Description

If you've managed construction, permitting, or facilities expansion for schools, hospitals, or retail sites and know there's a faster way to get approvals—this role is built for you.

2 Hour Learning is scaling the fastest school model in the nation. Launching new schools requires more than construction—it requires licenses, permits, and regulatory filings executed flawlessly and on an accelerated timeline. Your responsibility is to determine what's needed, sequence the submissions correctly, and ensure approvals arrive when required. You'll leverage AI-driven tools and automation systems, but you'll also engage directly—calling officials, coordinating contractors, and resolving situations that automation cannot address.

This position suits professionals who excel under complexity and time pressure. You will operate within a high-performance organization offering full resources and backing, where velocity is expected and quality is mandatory. You will apply AI to streamline bureaucratic processes, reduce permitting cycles, and deliver outcomes—not documentation.

If you are the professional who converts "pending approval" into "cleared to operate," this opportunity is for you.

What you will be doing

  • Aligning architects, contractors, and legal advisors to obtain all necessary construction and operational education permits.
  • Managing municipal permitting and inspection workflows across multiple jurisdictions—shortening timelines and removing obstacles.
  • Compiling and filing complete approval packages: permit applications, regulatory submissions, and inspection records.
  • Tracking project status and compliance exposure across all initiatives—ensuring full transparency and no unexpected issues.
  • Conducting site visits (~75% travel) to engage local authorities, inspectors, and service providers directly and maintain momentum.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Depending on others to flag problems or finalize filings—you will control the full delivery cycle.
  • Operating exclusively from a desk—this role demands field presence and direct execution.
  • Applying a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach by jurisdiction—you will design custom solutions as needed.
  • Treating delays as unavoidable—speed combined with accuracy defines this role.
  • Using outdated systems or manual tracking methods—continuous automation and refinement are required.

Key responsibilities

Obtain complete legal and operational authorization to launch schools across jurisdictions more rapidly and thoroughly than conventional permitting workflows permit.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the U.S. with authorization to work independently of visa sponsorship.
  • Available and prepared to travel approximately 75% of the time to U.S. cities and states.
  • 5+ years directing permitting, construction, or facilities expansion initiatives involving tangible assets and regulatory clearance.
  • 5+ years overseeing multiple contractors per project across different jurisdictions.
  • Documented history of delivering projects before deadlines while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
  • Experience delivering progress briefings to technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Clear accountability—you served as the sole responsible party for project outcomes and issue resolution.
  • AI-first mindset—you apply automation and rapid iteration as standard practice.
  • Written communication that is precise, actionable, and credible to senior decision-makers.
  • Strong regulatory discernment—you understand when to escalate, seek clarification, or challenge requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience in construction management, education operations, or multi-location retail rollout.
  • Track record developing or refining AI-based tools for permitting, compliance, or regulatory operations.
  • Direct collaboration history with fire marshals, building inspectors, and education regulatory bodies.
