Crossover specializes in full-time remote jobs that can be performed from anywhere in the world. Most of these are independent contracting positions (if you're unfamiliar with what contracting entails, here are some pros and cons).
However, there are a few key exceptions:
- Some jobs are 'in-person' or 'hybrid', not fully remote. This is because some of our clients need to fill positions which simply can't be done remotely (e.g. an education roles that involves the supervision of students). Most of these roles are in the United States, and hire employees not contractors.
- Some remote roles aren't open to people in every country. Typically this is because the role requires timezone overlap, a fixed schedule, or frequent travel. Countries embargoed by the US government are always excluded.
- We occasionally recruit for part-time, short-term, or freelance positions, including internships and sometimes even training programs. But the vast majority of jobs on Crossover are open-ended full-time contracts for exactly 40 hours per week (which is why Crossover jobs offer much better work/life balance than short-term gig sites, hungry employers who expect infinite hours, or startups with unreliable funding pathways).
Crossover job description always clearly state these exceptions when they apply, so always read carefully to make sure it suits your needs. Pro tip: use our easy search filters to hide any jobs you're not eligible or interested in.
In terms of industry: the majority of Crossover’s clients are established software businesses like Trilogy and IgniteTech, and EdTech startups like Alpha and 2 Hour Learning. We mostly recruit for technical roles (software engineers, architects and coders), education roles (guides, administrators, leaders), and core business functions such as finance, customer support, and marketing.
