If you're the kind of operator who can't rest until every box is checked, every document is perfect, and every deadline is nailed -- this is your job.

You’ll be the single point of accountability for keeping Unbound Academy, Arizona’s first AI-powered virtual charter school, in good standing with regulators. Not by reacting, but by owning: the systems, the trackers, the escalations, and the relationships that keep the school running today and position us to expand into new states tomorrow.

You’ll coordinate across a web of vendors, state agencies, and school leaders to assemble airtight compliance documentation, prepare flawless board packets, and proactively surface issues before they become problems. This isn’t a back-office reporting role. You’ll be front-and-center with external partners, charter reps, and school leadership -- trusted to flag risks, chase down late deliverables, and ensure nothing slips.

Unbound Academy is not a traditional district or bureaucracy. Students master core academics in just two hours a day with the help of AI, then spend their afternoons exploring coding, business, arts, and other real-world skills. Our ability to deliver this model at scale depends entirely on operational precision, and that’s where you come in. You’ll have autonomy, authority, and a clear mission: keep Unbound compliant so we can keep serving students.

What you will be doing

  • Building and maintaining compliance documentation packages that meet Arizona charter school requirements, complete and audit-ready
  • Preparing board packets, agendas, and compliance updates—delivered early, accurate, and free of last-minute scrambles
  • Tracking vendor deliverables, following up persistently, and escalating when deadlines are missed
  • Synthesizing compliance status into clear, actionable updates for Unbound’s charter representatives and school leadership
  • Creating repeatable systems that keep compliance proactive instead of reactive, supporting Unbound’s future applications in other states

What you will NOT be doing

  • Waiting for someone else to design the system—you will own compliance end-to-end
  • Writing new laws or policy—this role is about flawless execution of existing requirements
  • Living in fire drills—your systems prevent last-minute compliance chaos
  • Chasing vendors endlessly—when they miss, you escalate and move forward
  • Filing paperwork in obscurity—your work is visible, mission-critical, and directly tied to Unbound’s growth

Key responsibilities

Ensure Unbound Academy remains in full regulatory compliance—protecting its license to operate in Arizona today and enabling successful expansion into new states tomorrow.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience owning compliance, operations, or documentation deliverables tied to legal or regulatory standards
  • Proven track record managing at least 3 external partners or vendors, with accountability for deadlines and deliverables
  • Experience creating formal reports or packets for external stakeholders (e.g., board materials, audit documentation, compliance submissions)
  • Strong organizational skills with experience tracking deadlines and task statuses across multiple projects using tools such as Asana, Airtable, or Excel
  • Direct experience working with government, regulatory, or legal entities (e.g., departments of education, licensing boards, audit firms)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify compliance risks and proactively resolve them
  • Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) for drafting, research, and documentation
  • Based in the United States, with a strong preference for Arizona residency
  • Availability during standard U.S. business hours with flexibility to set and manage one’s own schedule
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Arizona charter school regulations
  • Experience supporting virtual or non-traditional education organizations
  • History of building or improving compliance systems from the ground up
