PreK Guide II   $120,000 USD/year

Description

  • Onsite in New York City, NY
  • $120,000 salary, paid weekly. Day-one health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Ready to move? Relocation support included.

Do you believe real learning starts with joy, movement, and trust?

Alpha School is reshaping education where kids master academics fast and spend more time building life skills. In Pre-K, that starts with something even more fundamental: emotional safety, curiosity, and the stamina to try.

Your mission: lead an in-person NYC Pre-K cohort that loves school while showing accelerated early-learning growth: roughly 2x what traditional preschools produce. You'll design intentional, sensory-rich play blocks that embed developmental targets, then document progress weekly and adjust fast for each child.

NYC: Parks for outdoor learning, diverse neighborhoods with strong family communities, unmatched public transit, and access to cutting-edge early childhood networks.

Build joy. Unlock growth. Apply now.

What you will be doing

  • Design and facilitate 30–60 minute play-based learning blocks that build joy, emotional safety, and measurable developmental growth
  • Create a movement- and sensory-friendly classroom that keeps engagement high and allows four-year-olds to learn through multiple modalities
  • Observe and document in real time: Capture same-day, objective notes tied to developmental domains, then update each child's milestone record weekly
  • Use data to drive instruction: Analyze weekly documentation to identify each child's next growth edge and plan responsive learning moves
  • Design individualized, motivation-based activity adjustments rooted in each child's interests, embed one clear developmental goal, and re-check impact within two weeks
  • Guide children through frustration using calm co-regulation and emotional coaching rather than reactive behavior control
  • Communicate student growth, routines, and emerging concerns clearly and proactively with families

What you will NOT be doing

  • Treat PreK as childcare rather than intentional early education
  • Rely on scripted worksheets or compliance-driven instruction as your default approach
  • Spend your day primarily monitoring academic apps instead of leading live, hands-on learning
  • Use reactive behavior control in place of calm co-regulation and emotional coaching

Key responsibilities

Make sure NYC Pre-K kids learn to love school while demonstrating accelerated early-learning progression through intentional play.

Candidate requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, OR CDA/Montessori/Reggio credential
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with 3–5-year-olds in a structured group setting (classroom, not solely one-on-one care)
  • Demonstrated success facilitating play-based learning that drives observable developmental growth
  • Proven ability to document developmental milestones objectively and consistently on a weekly cadence using a structured framework or rubric
  • Strong relationship-building and emotional attunement: Ability to build trust quickly, read emotional cues accurately, and use individualized motivators to unlock engagement
  • Co-regulation and frustration scaffolding: Guide children through emotional spikes using calm modeling and structured emotional coaching
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in New York City, NY
