Community Builder   $150,000 USD/year

Description

If you're the person who fills the room, remembers every name, and is still talking to people months later, keep reading.

Alpha is rethinking what school can be. Students complete core academics in just two hours a day using AI-powered learning, then spend the rest of their time building the skills that matter most: critical thinking, communication, entrepreneurship, and real-world execution. Families don't choose Alpha because of marketing. They choose it because they experience something they can't find anywhere else. This role exists to create that experience.

You'll build and grow the community that brings exceptional families into Alpha and helps them confidently choose us over every other school they're considering. You'll own the human side of admissions, from the first event a family attends through enrollment, creating memorable experiences that build trust long before a decision is made. You'll plan events, develop relationships, personally nurture prospective families, and turn accepted students into enrolled students. This role is for someone who has built real communities before, thrives in a room full of people, and understands that relationships drive meaningful decisions. You'll work closely with the Director of Admissions, Heads of School, and Admissions Associate while helping build the playbook that will shape Alpha's future growth.

If you've built communities people genuinely wanted to belong to and you're excited by the opportunity to help transform education, we'd love to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Design and execute high-impact community events, including information sessions, parent dinners, campus tours, school fairs, accepted-family events, and partner meetups.
  • Build meaningful relationships with prospective families, guiding them from initial interest through application and maintaining consistent, high-touch communication.
  • Own enrollment yield for the high school by creating experiences and follow-up strategies that convert accepted families into enrolled families.
  • Build and activate a vibrant community of current parents, prospective families, and ambassadors who strengthen Alpha's reputation and referral network.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and collaborate closely with the Admissions Associate and school leadership to ensure every family receives a seamless experience.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Using high-pressure sales tactics or convincing families who are not a strong fit.
  • Managing application processing, interview scheduling, or admissions decisions.
  • Creating marketing strategy or brand messaging from scratch.
  • Managing a team instead of personally building relationships and running events.
  • Working remotely. Community is built face-to-face.

Key responsibilities

Build a thriving community that consistently attracts exceptional families and converts accepted students into enrolled students, creating predictable admissions growth for Alpha.

Candidate requirements

  • Proven experience building and growing an in-person community from the ground up.
  • Demonstrated success planning and executing events from concept through follow-up.
  • Experience selling or influencing thoughtful, high-consideration buyers through relationship building rather than transactional sales.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect authentically with sophisticated families.
  • Strong organizational skills with disciplined CRM usage and consistent follow-through.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable creating structure where none exists.
  • Passion for Alpha's mission and belief that AI is transforming the future of education.
  • Based in New York City or willing to relocate.
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Experience in private school admissions, alumni relations, nonprofit fundraising, hospitality, or experiential events.
  • An established network within the NYC education or parent community.
  • An engaged social media or content presence that has translated into real-world community building.
