Solutions Architect   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're a DevOps engineer who understands that preventing outages matters more than responding to them. If you're drawn to unraveling legacy infrastructure tangles, architecting cleaner systems, and automating every repetitive workflow you find, this role is built for you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who performs under pressure, where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. You'll operate across a portfolio of acquired products—each with unique characteristics—migrating them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while deploying monitoring and automation that keep incidents uncommon.

Most organizations ask you to support one stack. We're asking you to consolidate and refine multiple stacks without causing disruptions. Where others separate databases, we take a different approach, consolidating them strategically to drive cost efficiency and simplify management across our portfolio. This role isn't designed for someone content to maintain what already exists; it's for someone who looks at fragmented, inconsistent infrastructure and immediately envisions how to improve it.

You'll be accountable for everything from infrastructure migrations to AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost management. That includes identifying and resolving what's failing, orchestrating smooth cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and automating significant portions of your workload using AI/ML-enabled processes. You'll hold genuine decision-making authority over infrastructure choices—no lengthy approval cycles from stakeholders unfamiliar with the technical reality.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who excels at untangling complicated systems and ensuring they operate seamlessly, this role will be your ideal environment. If you require constant guidance, feel overwhelmed managing diverse technology stacks, or prefer greenfield projects over transforming chaos into order, this position won't suit you. If you're prepared to assume ownership of a high-impact infrastructure role with opportunities to build, refine, and automate at scale, apply now!

What you will be doing

  • Orchestrating and executing complex infrastructure transformations, including transitions from legacy environments to AWS cloud platforms and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Architecting and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automation for monitoring systems, software releases, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, backup operations, incident management, database migrations, database setup, and cost reduction initiatives

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and never-ending status calls - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not just document issues
  • Keeping legacy systems alive indefinitely - you'll be authorized to pursue substantive upgrades
  • Waiting through bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to implement urgent fixes when incidents occur
  • Operating within restrictive technical boundaries - this position demands both wide-ranging knowledge and deep technical skill
  • Justifying budget for essential infrastructure work - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Advance reliability and consistency of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive AWS infrastructure knowledge (this is our core platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
  • Proven ability scripting with Python and Bash for routine administrative tasks
  • Demonstrated experience managing and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Strong Linux systems administration background
