Solutions Architect   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This position is designed for a DevOps engineer who prioritizes prevention over reaction. If you find satisfaction in deconstructing complex legacy infrastructure, architecting efficient replacement systems, and automating every recurring process, this role aligns with your strengths. We seek a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in demanding environments where 99.9% uptime is non-negotiable. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products, each presenting unique challenges, as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while implementing monitoring and automation that minimizes incident frequency.

Unlike organizations that assign you to a single stack, we expect you to integrate and refine multiple stacks without service interruption. While conventional approaches isolate databases, our strategy involves selective consolidation to enhance cost efficiency and management simplicity across the portfolio. This role is not suited for maintaining static infrastructure; it requires someone who encounters fragmented, inconsistent environments and immediately envisions superior architecture.

Your scope encompasses infrastructure migrations, AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost management. This includes identifying and resolving existing issues, orchestrating cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and leveraging AI/ML-driven workflows to eliminate manual processes. You'll possess genuine authority over infrastructure decisions—without navigating approval chains involving stakeholders disconnected from technical realities.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who excels at simplifying complex systems and ensuring flawless operation, this role offers substantial opportunity. If you require continuous guidance, struggle with diverse technology stacks, or favor greenfield projects over transforming disorder into structure, this position will prove frustrating. If you're prepared to assume ownership of a high-impact infrastructure function with latitude to build, refine, and automate at scale, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Orchestrating complex infrastructure transitions, including migrations from legacy environments to AWS cloud platforms and lift-and-shift operations
  • Architecting monitoring strategies and creating automation for monitoring systems, software deployment pipelines, and operational processes
  • Executing system monitoring, backup procedures, incident management, database migrations, database tuning, and cost reduction initiatives

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and prolonged status meetings - we prioritize individuals who deliver solutions rather than merely document issues
  • Preserving obsolete systems without end - you'll be authorized to implement substantial enhancements
  • Waiting through bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess authority to implement urgent fixes during incidents
  • Operating within restrictive technical boundaries - this position demands both comprehensive knowledge and specialized expertise
  • Justifying budget for essential infrastructure work - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure throughout our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive AWS infrastructure knowledge (this is our core platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
  • Proficient programming capabilities in Python or JavaScript for developing automation and custom tooling
  • Demonstrated experience managing and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Expert-level Docker/Kubernetes proficiency
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Expert Linux systems administration skills
