Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an in-person position based at our Austin, Texas campus.

Traditional schools focus on teaching students what to think. This position is designed to show them how to execute.

Alpha is creating a reimagined high school experience—one where students aren't passive recipients of lectures or memorizers of facts. Instead, they build, ship, communicate, and evolve. They launch projects, validate ideas, and cultivate practical skills that many adults never acquire. Your role is to ensure they follow through effectively and consistently.

You will engage directly with high school students as they create businesses, manage projects, and build the confidence, communication skills, and competence needed to thrive beyond the classroom. You are not here to deliver theory. You are here to guide execution. You will establish high expectations, enforce accountability, and challenge students to deliver work that holds up in real-world contexts.

This position is for individuals who have achieved something substantive outside academic settings—built a product, cultivated an audience, operated within a startup, or produced results in a dynamic environment—and are motivated to channel that experience into developing the next generation. If you are seeking a conventional teaching position, this is not the right fit. If you are interested in influencing how driven teenagers think, act, and perform, this is the opportunity.

If you have accomplished something meaningful in your professional life and want to dedicate your time to elevating motivated teenagers toward their full capability, this is the place to do it. Apply now

What you will be doing

  • Design practical workshops that teach students how to build genuine social media followings
  • Mentor students on content strategy, covering everything from concept development to AI-powered optimization
  • Support students in transforming their personal expertise into marketable personal brands
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group coaching to help students define goals, maintain consistency, and produce concrete deliverables
  • Enforce high standards across communication quality, work output, and reliability
  • Facilitate real-world projects (entrepreneurial ventures, marketing campaigns, software development, etc.) and demand measurable outcomes
  • Monitor student development across the 3 C's and take corrective action when performance declines
  • Maintain transparent communication with students and parents regarding progress, shortfalls, and future direction

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional lectures or following a standardized curriculum
  • Grading homework assignments in bulk or emphasizing theoretical concepts
  • Coddling disengaged students or compromising standards to preserve comfort
  • Functioning within a slow-moving, bureaucratic educational system

Key responsibilities

Produce quantifiable improvements in students' confidence, communication abilities, and real-world competence by coaching them to execute consistently at a high standard.

Candidate requirements

  • Proven record of significant personal accomplishment in at least one practical domain: launching a company, building an audience, generating revenue, publishing research, competing at an elite level, or equivalent
  • Solid coaching and mentoring capabilities, with an aptitude for motivating teenagers
  • 3+ years of experience coaching/mentoring teenagers
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Proficiency with AI and technology tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
  • Available to work on-site in Austin, TX. Relocation support is provided
  • Authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Specialized expertise in at least one practical field (entrepreneurship, medicine, sales, technology, creative industries, finance, athletics) that you can integrate into sessions and workshops with detail and precision
  • Background working in a startup or high-growth organization at any capacity
