Director of Family Enrollment   $200,000 USD/year

Description

While many enrollment positions prioritize volume, this one is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is developing a school model of exceptional ambition. Our campuses integrate rigorous academic work, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and staff. Student learning consistently outpaces national benchmarks, supported by verifiable data. Afternoons are reserved for deeper exploration, independent work, and the development of practical skills. The model is effective. But its effectiveness depends on enrolling the right families.

This is your responsibility.

You will manage the complete enrollment process for a campus, beginning with the first inquiry and continuing through onboarding. This is not a role that hands off responsibilities. You own how families engage with us, how thoroughly they understand the model, and whether their enrollment decisions reflect genuine alignment. You will evaluate fit, facilitate substantive conversations, and recommend against enrollment when appropriate. The objective is not to maximize enrollment numbers. The objective is to ensure alignment.

We welcome candidates from premium service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective private schools, competitive programs, high-end hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership organizations, or owner-operators who have directly managed high-value client experiences from beginning to end. What counts is your capacity to execute a high-touch, multi-phase process with sound judgment, clarity, and consistent follow-through.

If your career has centered on delivering exceptional service where trust, discretion, and experience quality shape the brand, this role will be recognizable—just directed toward work that genuinely influences outcomes.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-campus position. We are hiring in La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, South Bay. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of the enrollment process for prospective families, from initial contact through completed onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-assessment discussions to evaluate fit before offering solutions or advising on next steps.
  • Tracking and managing 20+ concurrent family relationships across various stages of enrollment, with clear accountability for status updates and timely follow-ups.
  • Delivering campus tours, shadowing experiences, and decision-oriented conversations that articulate outcomes, expectations, and the families for whom the model is designed.
  • Keeping CRM and enrollment systems (HubSpot and SIS) current and accurate to enable forecasting, prioritization, and consistent service delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Applying transactional or aggressive sales approaches.
  • Enrolling families who lack alignment simply to meet numerical targets.
  • Overseeing a large team or navigating complex approval hierarchies.
  • Distributing ownership of the family experience across multiple individuals.
  • Working remotely. This role is intentionally campus-based.

Key responsibilities

Own and deliver a high-trust, highly selective enrollment process that successfully converts aligned families while safeguarding the integrity and academic performance of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service quality directly influences brand reputation (education, high-end hospitality, executive support, exclusive membership organizations, or owner-operated service businesses).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment process from initial contact through onboarding.
  • Experience managing 20+ concurrent client, guest, or family relationships at varying stages, supported by a reliable system for tracking and prioritization.
  • Ability to share specific examples of consultative decision-making, including instances where you advised against your product or service due to poor fit.
  • Professional written communication experience with senior executives, high-net-worth individuals, or discerning clients.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of the following locations: La Jolla, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; or South Bay, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in competitive private school admissions or selective program enrollment.
  • Background in high-end hospitality, VIP guest relations, or executive-level support.
  • Experience designing or improving enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service protocols.
  • Comfort leveraging data and CRM insights to enhance conversion quality, not merely speed.
