Director of Family Experience and Enrollment   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Many enrollment positions focus on maximizing volume. This role is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is developing one of the world's most forward-thinking school models. Our campuses integrate rigorous academic standards, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and faculty. Students routinely progress at rates exceeding national norms, with results validated by data. Afternoons are structured for deeper exploration, independent work, and practical skill development. The model is proven. However, its success depends entirely on enrolling the right families.

This is your responsibility.

You will manage the complete enrollment process for a campus, beginning with initial inquiry and continuing through onboarding. This is not a role where ownership is passed along. You are accountable for the family experience, for ensuring they fully comprehend the model, and for confirming that enrollment decisions are made with the right motivations. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate meaningful discussions, and advise against enrollment when appropriate. The objective is not to maximize numbers. The objective is to ensure alignment.

We welcome candidates from high-end service sectors outside traditional education: independent schools, competitive programs, luxury hospitality, executive concierge services, elite membership organizations, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly overseen high-stakes client relationships from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to manage a detailed, multi-phase process with discernment, precision, and accountability.

If your career has centered on delivering exceptional service where trust, confidentiality, and experience quality are central to the brand, this role will feel intuitive—just directed toward work that genuinely influences student outcomes.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position. We are currently hiring in La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, South Bay. Relocation assistance is available.

What you will be doing

  • Managing the entire enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial outreach through final onboarding.
  • Leading assessment-focused conversations to evaluate compatibility before advancing families or suggesting pathways forward.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family relationships progressing through various stages of enrollment, with transparent tracking and timely follow-up.
  • Facilitating campus tours, student shadow visits, and decision-oriented discussions that articulate outcomes, expectations, and the intended audience for the model.
  • Keeping CRM and enrollment systems (HubSpot and SIS) current and accurate to enable forecasting, priority-setting, and sustained service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Applying transactional or aggressive sales techniques.
  • Accepting families who are not aligned simply to achieve enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing a sizable team or working through complex reporting structures.
  • Handing off responsibility for family engagement to other team members.
  • Operating remotely. This role is campus-based by necessity.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a trust-centered, selective enrollment process that attracts and converts mission-aligned families while safeguarding the integrity and academic performance of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly shapes brand perception (education, luxury hospitality, executive support, premium membership, or owner-operated services).
  • Proven responsibility for managing a complete client, admissions, or enrollment process from initial contact through onboarding.
  • Experience concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family accounts at varying stages, supported by an organized tracking and prioritization method.
  • Ability to share specific instances of consultative decision-making, including situations where you advised against your product or service due to poor fit.
  • Professional written communication experience with senior executives, high-net-worth individuals, or discerning clients.
  • Willingness to live in or relocate within 60 days to one of the following markets: La Jolla, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; or South Bay, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in competitive private school admissions or selective program enrollment.
  • Background in luxury hospitality, VIP client services, or executive-level support functions.
  • Experience designing or improving enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service protocols.
  • Comfort leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance conversion quality, not merely velocity.
