Director of Enrollment   $200,000 USD/year

Description

The families who select Alpha rely on trusted advisors across every facet of their lives. This is the relationship they haven't had yet.

You will become the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't feel quite right, or when they want to share a milestone they know you'll appreciate. You'll understand each family deeply enough to sense what they need before they articulate it—and you'll possess the judgment and composure to respond with discretion, warmth, and seamless professionalism. Over time, you won't simply be affiliated with their child's school. You'll become woven into how they navigate this season of their family's journey.

This level of trust isn't the result of a procedure. It emerges from presence—steady, daily, and unhurried. You'll be visible during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, at the evening gatherings that carry meaning, and in the unscheduled conversations that never appear on a calendar. You'll cultivate a community that families feel compelled to protect, where a sense of belonging feels natural and word-of-mouth referrals happen because the experience earns them.

Alpha does not follow a traditional school framework. Students complete core academics in two hours daily using AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real-world projects. No lectures. No busywork. Top 1% outcomes nationwide. The families who commit are investing in something they value deeply—but conviction requires ongoing care.

You'll sustain that dialogue with every family, through every moment of uncertainty, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional model to discerning skeptics feels like a burden, this role won't suit you. If it sounds like the most compelling conversation you could be leading, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Take ownership of the relationship with every family on campus—the sustained, evolving connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely serviced
  • Identify potential concerns before they surface as conversations, and address them with discretion and social acuity that preserves trust
  • Maintain a visible presence where families gather: morning drop-off (7–9am), afternoon pick-up (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend activities
  • Develop a campus community with authentic depth—events, traditions, and touchpoints that foster a sense of belonging worth defending
  • Nurture parent advocates through organic cultivation, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals arise naturally
  • Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families managing screen time questions, skeptical relatives, and moments of doubt—not only at enrollment, but continuously throughout their campus experience
  • Recognize when a family may not be the right fit and manage that situation with the same poise you apply to all interactions—safeguarding the community is integral to serving it
  • Establish the systems and routines this role demands in an environment where the framework is still being developed

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—that falls under the Admissions Director's purview; your work commences once families enroll and deepens thereafter
  • Remaining desk-bound—your physical presence within the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening events are integral to the position, not occasional occurrences
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and create what is needed
  • Treating family relationships as transactional accounts—this role rewards authentic connection, not procedural adherence

Key responsibilities

Serve as the central trusted relationship in every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish the conditions in which satisfied families become enthusiastic advocates.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently live within commuting distance of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference for candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; or Kirkland, WA
  • Authorized to work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 5+ years in a relationship-focused role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or comparable environments where discretion, warmth, and social fluency were equally important as technical competence
  • Proven capacity to sustain relationships through challenging situations with sophisticated families and preserve trust throughout
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that quickly establishes confidence with affluent, high-expectation families—not polished in a manner that feels rehearsed
  • Personal exposure to independent, private, or non-traditional education—either professionally or as a parent—that provides you with credible perspective when families question the model
  • Sincere belief in AI-powered education and the capability to convey that conviction authentically across years of parent relationships, not solely during the enrollment phase
  • Available for flexible scheduling: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening events 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend activities

Nice to have

Exceptional candidates will possess at least one of the following:

  • Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide you with an immediate, organic foothold on campus
  • Private school or independent school background with a demonstrated history of family retention and community depth—not merely enrollment metrics
  • Experience managing high-stakes family relationships where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
  • A natural ability for designing experiences—events, moments, environments—where individuals feel they belong to something worth protecting
  • Prior startup or early-stage experience where you built from the ground up and maintained composure amid rapid change
