Youth Development Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position in Brownsville, TX (relocation support provided)
  • $100,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly, with comprehensive health coverage

Most educators waste their effort battling bureaucracy. Drafting lesson plans that gather dust. Attending staff meetings that produce no outcomes. You realized long ago that wasn't the mission. The mission is the student sitting across from you.

At Alpha, academic instruction is delivered through software. Personalized applications guide each learner through material at an individualized pace. No classroom lectures, no take-home assignments, no test grading. This structure allows you to concentrate on work that genuinely transforms outcomes: facilitating life skills workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking ability, concentration techniques, and constructive feedback practices, followed by individual coaching sessions to maintain motivation and achieve learning milestones. You'll spend half your time facilitating group sessions. The remaining hours are dedicated to one-on-one conversations, leveraging Coachbot analytics to pinpoint precisely where each student encounters obstacles and why.

Following every workshop, your students complete a mastery-focused evaluation. Over 90% should provide positive ratings of your instruction. Every single student should demonstrate progress within their learning applications. These aren't stretch targets; they define the standard. Maintaining rigorous expectations communicates your confidence in their capabilities. Throughout this process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops that captivate teenage participants, utilizing advanced educational technology, and establishing meaningful relationships with both students and their families. Our Brownsville location is adjacent to SpaceX facilities. The leading edge of educational innovation intersects with the leading edge of aerospace engineering, and you'll be the individual fulfilling Alpha's central commitment: learners who are excited about school, progress at double the typical speed, and acquire capabilities that translate to real success. If you've been searching for an educational environment aligned with your vision of how learning should function, you've found it.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating sixty-minute life skills workshops for high school students covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange, followed by mastery verification through structured Test2Pass evaluations
  • Conducting daily motivational coaching sessions utilizing Coachbot data to engage individual students, diagnose learning app obstacles, and guide them through points of resistance
  • Collaborating with students to develop personalized motivational approaches, including reward systems and incentive structures that encourage independent advancement in academic applications
  • Examining curriculum materials and session plans prior to delivery, then modifying your approach according to student engagement and comprehension

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic content instruction. Mathematics, literacy, and all other subjects are handled by software platforms.
  • Administering a facility or supervising staff. No budget responsibilities, no recruitment duties, no administrative meetings; your complete attention remains on your student group.
  • Enforcing compliance through conventional authority structures. No detention assignments, no suspension processes, no appeals to positional power. You employ reasoning and encouragement to cultivate a respectful, dynamic learning atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

Develop a high school student cohort that is enthusiastic about education, achieves 2x accelerated learning through adaptive technology platforms, and exhibits proficiency in practical life competencies.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years of direct experience working with high school students (ages 13-18)
  • Willing to work in-person in Brownsville, TX (relocation assistance available)

Nice to have

  • Experience as a sports coach, residential camp counselor, or youth program coordinator who has inspired teenagers in non-classroom settings
  • Demonstrated history of guiding groups to quantifiable outcomes (completion metrics, performance standards, behavioral transformation)
  • Familiarity with adaptive learning systems or educational technology platforms
  • Narrative communication skills that command teenage audiences' focus, presented with cultural sensitivity and authentic connection
