At Alpha, academic content is delivered through software. Adaptive applications guide each learner through coursework at an individualized pace. No lectures, no homework assignments, no grading papers. This structure frees you to focus on work that genuinely transforms lives: facilitating life skills workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking abilities, concentration, and feedback exchange skills, then providing one-on-one coaching to maintain their motivation and support their learning targets. You'll spend half your day facilitating group sessions. The other half is spent in individual coaching conversations, analyzing Coachbot data to identify precisely where each student is encountering obstacles and why.
After each workshop, students complete a mastery-based assessment. You should receive high ratings from 90%+ of participants. Every student should be progressing in their applications. These aren't aspirational targets—they define the standard. Setting rigorous expectations demonstrates your belief in their capacity to succeed. Through this work, you'll develop expertise in designing workshops that captivate teenagers, mastering advanced learning software, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville campus is located adjacent to SpaceX. What you will be doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for high school students covering topics such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, followed by assessing mastery via structured Test2Pass evaluation
- Conducting daily individual motivation sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics to engage with students, diagnose learning app obstacles, and help them overcome resistance
- Creating personalized motivational plans with students, incorporating rewards and incentives that encourage autonomous advancement in their academic applications
- Examining curriculum and lesson materials prior to each session, then modifying your approach based on student engagement and group dynamics
What you will NOT be doing
- Teaching traditional academic content. Software delivers math, reading, and all other subjects.
- Administering school operations or supervising teams. No budget management, no recruitment, no administrative meetings; your complete attention stays on your student cohort.
- Enforcing discipline through conventional authority structures. No detention assignments, no suspension procedures, no "because I said so" rationale. You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to cultivate a respectful, energized learning environment.
Key responsibilities
Develop a cohort of high school students who are passionate about school, achieve 2x faster learning through adaptive software, and exhibit mastery of practical life skills.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any subject
- 3+ years of experience working directly with high school students (ages 13-18)
- Willing to work in-person in Oklahoma City, OK (relocation assistance available)
- Legal right to work in the US
Nice to have
- Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator who has inspired teenagers beyond traditional classroom settings
- Demonstrated history of guiding groups toward quantifiable objectives (completion metrics, performance standards, behavioral transformation)
- Familiarity with adaptive learning platforms or educational technology solutions
- Narrative skills that capture and maintain teenage audiences' attention, presented with cultural sensitivity and authentic connection
