Student Success Coach   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most educators burn energy fighting a broken system. They write lesson plans no one reads. They sit in endless meetings that accomplish nothing. You realized years ago that wasn't the real work. The real work is the student sitting in front of you.

Alpha operates differently. Software handles the academics. Adaptive applications move students through content at their individual pace. No lectures, no homework, no grading. That leaves you free for the work that actually transforms lives: facilitating life skill workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking, focus, and feedback skills, then coaching them individually to maintain motivation and reach their learning targets. Half your time is spent leading a room. The other half is spent one-on-one with a student, reviewing their Coachbot data to pinpoint exactly where they're struggling and why.

After every workshop, students complete a mastery-based assessment. 90%+ should rate you highly. 100% should be progressing through their apps. These aren't stretch goals; they're expectations. Setting high standards for students demonstrates your belief in their potential. In the process, you'll become expert at creating workshops teenagers are eager to attend, mastering advanced learning software, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville campus neighbors SpaceX. The cutting edge of education meets the cutting edge of space exploration, and you'll deliver on Alpha's fundamental promise: students who love learning, advance twice as fast, and develop skills that truly count. If you've been looking for a school that functions the way you believe schools should function, you've found it.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for high school students covering topics such as public speaking, focus, and feedback delivery and reception, then evaluating mastery via structured Test2Pass assessment
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions that leverage Coachbot analytics to engage individual students, diagnose where they're blocked in their learning apps, and help them overcome resistance
  • Co-creating personalized motivational strategies with students, including reward systems and incentives that fuel self-directed advancement in their academic apps
  • Preparing by reviewing curriculum and lesson plans before each session, then adjusting your approach based on how you're reading the room

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction. Software covers math, reading, and all other subjects.
  • Running a school or supervising staff. No budgets, no hiring, no operational meetings; your complete attention stays on your student cohort.
  • Enforcing discipline through conventional authority. No detentions, no suspensions, no "because I said so." You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to create a respectful, energized atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

Develop a cohort of high school students who love school, learn 2x faster through adaptive software, and achieve mastery of practical life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with high school students (ages 13-18)
  • Willing to work in-person in Oklahoma City, OK (relocation assistance available)
  • Legal right to work in the US

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator who has inspired teenagers outside traditional classroom settings
  • Demonstrated history of guiding groups toward quantifiable outcomes (completion rates, performance metrics, behavior improvement)
  • Familiarity with adaptive learning platforms or educational technology tools
  • Ability to tell stories that captivate a room of teenagers, delivered with cultural sensitivity and authenticity
