Description

Coach real founders, not hypothetical students.

Most high schools prepare teenagers for a distant future. We believe the future is already here. Founders School is a four-year high school designed for students unwilling to postpone building something meaningful until adulthood. These students aren't simulating entrepreneurship through classroom exercises. They're creating actual companies, collaborating with experienced founders, becoming fluent in AI, and tackling problems that have real consequences. Our mission is demanding because the students we serve are demanding: launch a million-dollar business, pinpoint problems worthy of their time, and achieve AI mastery ahead of the adult world. Your job is to ensure that ambition translates into sustained progress.

You won't deliver lectures or dictate strategy to student entrepreneurs. Instead, you'll guide a cohort of young founders daily, ensuring they remain accountable, navigate failures, and maintain momentum when the realities of company-building become challenging. You'll recognize when to push, when to support, and when to introduce them to the ideal mentor or opportunity. The curriculum, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, and founder network supply the technical and strategic expertise. You supply the discipline, standards, and drive that transform promise into measurable outcomes.

This role also represents a chance to shape an institution from its earliest days. As part of our founding team in New York City, you'll influence the culture, infrastructure, and everyday experience of a school built to challenge conventional ideas about what high school can achieve. Your contributions won't be limited to a single cohort. They will inform the operating model for every Founders School campus we launch in the future. If startups energize you, if you believe rigorous expectations yield exceptional results, and if you want to channel your talent into cultivating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, we want to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Guide and support a cohort of student founders through structured weekly 1:1 sessions, daily check-ins, and group standups that ensure consistent, measurable forward progress.
  • Maintain an exceptionally high standard for execution while offering the accountability and support necessary to help students navigate challenges and continue building.
  • Track student development using FounderOS, recognize when students encounter roadblocks, and facilitate connections with mentors, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, or additional resources to drive their advancement.
  • Contribute to building the culture, rituals, programming, events, and operational cadence of a premier entrepreneurial high school.
  • Accompany students on trips multiple times per year while cultivating enduring relationships with founders, investors, operators, and entrepreneurial families.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Serving as the principal business strategist or primary startup advisor for students. FounderOS, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, and external mentors fulfill that function.
  • Delivering traditional academic instruction or evaluating academic assignments.
  • Tolerating mediocre effort from students who possess the capacity for exceptional work.
  • Facilitating workshops on topics outside your domain of competence or defaulting to superficial startup guidance.
  • Operating within a bureaucratic school framework where administrative constraints undermine student success.

Key responsibilities

Build an environment in which every student advances consistently as an entrepreneur by delivering outstanding coaching, rigorous accountability, strategic connections, and a culture that transforms ambitious teenagers into competent founders.

Candidate requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership or high-impact role within a startup or high-growth company.
  • Solid business acumen and the confidence to engage meaningfully with early-stage founders while understanding when to bring in specialized expertise.
  • Proven experience coaching, motivating, and maintaining high standards of accountability for high-performing individuals.
  • Regular, practical use of AI to enhance both the quality and efficiency of your daily work.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities with students, families, mentors, and founders.
  • Availability to work full-time on-site in New York City, including periodic travel during the year.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Previously founded or co-founded a company.
  • Background in coaching, mentoring, or managing programs for teenagers or young adults.
  • Access to an existing network of founders, investors, operators, or mentors.
  • Prior experience in early-stage startups where you routinely worked across diverse functions.
