Family Office Relationship Manager   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've mastered the art of building relationships with individuals whose net worth exceeds a billion dollars—and you understand how to secure their confidence when they make one of the most consequential decisions regarding their child's future. That defines this position. If your default approach is to "move leads through a pipeline" or "execute on applications," you should look elsewhere. If your default is to take complete ownership of relationships that span years, this could be the most rewarding role of your career.

Founders School operates as a four-year high school where students launch genuine businesses with a goal of $1M in profit by the time they graduate. Annual tuition stands at $150K, backed by a guarantee: $1M in profit by graduation, or full tuition refunded. The inaugural cohort of 20 students begins in New York City in Fall 2026, with plans to expand toward 1,000 students. The families we serve rank among the most accomplished and selective globally—many possess net worths ranging from hundreds of millions to multiple billions. Each of these relationships requires a dedicated owner, from initial contact through enrollment and well beyond.

This role more closely resembles managing investor relations at a premier fund than handling admissions at a traditional private school. You'll oversee a portfolio of high-net-worth prospects, guide them through a rigorous engagement process, secure their commitment to a significant decision, and sustain those relationships over the long term so trust deepens: they renew enrollment, enroll additional children, and introduce their networks.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of the pipeline for all qualified prospective families—every inquiry, whether it arrives inbound, emerges from an event, or comes via referral, transforms into a substantive relationship centered on you. This means consistent calls, deliberate follow-through, and serving as the go-to source for answers to any question—or quickly obtaining them when necessary.
  • Organizing gatherings that unite prospective and enrolled families, ranging from broader information sessions to smaller dinners and informal receptions.
  • Shepherding families through the application and due-diligence journey—articulating the school's model, the profit guarantee, and the educational pathway, moving them from curiosity to commitment without resorting to aggressive sales tactics.
  • Maintaining active engagement with every family in the ecosystem—those still deciding, those already enrolled, and those with younger siblings on the horizon. Proactive outreach ensures families hear from you before they need to reach out.
  • Serving as the primary human representative of Founders School for these families, while constructing the scalable relationship and enrollment framework that enables the program to operate and expand.
  • Collaborating directly with the school leadership who manage the highest-tier conversations early on, while you establish the operational engine that supports everything else.

Similar to a fund's calendar, the year divides into two phases: an intensive cycle focused on cultivating relationships with prospective families and advancing them toward commitment, and a stewardship phase where you maintain close contact with enrolled families, provide proactive updates, and foster the satisfaction necessary for renewals and referrals.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Selling. No commissions, no quotas, no aggressive closing. If a family perceives pressure, we have not succeeded. You are not in sales—you are the trusted advisor in this decision.
  • Operating within a scarcity-driven admissions model. Traditional admissions focuses on rejecting applicants at schools with 4% acceptance rates. We are creating something new and persuading exceptional families to invest in it.
  • Transferring families to others and stepping away. The relationship does not conclude with the deposit—it marks the start of a multi-year engagement you continue to own.
  • Getting buried in administrative tasks. Scheduling, documentation, and enrollment logistics are managed by operations. Your attention remains on families.

Key responsibilities

By the six-month mark, you will own the complete pipeline of prospective families in NYC—each will have an established relationship with you, and the school heads will no longer serve as bottlenecks for any relationship outside the very top tier. The Fall 2027 cohort's families will have been personally guided from initial interest through enrollment, every enrolled family will be on a proactive communication schedule, and you will have created the foundational messaging and relationship playbook that does not currently exist.

At twelve months, the NYC enrollment process will operate as a structured system rather than an ad hoc effort—you will be able to describe the pipeline, conversion metrics, and the status of every family relationship at any moment. Enrolled families will be renewing their trust and generating referrals; retention and referral outcomes will be directly attributable to your work.

As the program grows toward 1,000 students across multiple cities, you will build and lead the enrollment team—recruiting, developing, and defining the family experience at every location. You are entering this function at its inception, the function that will determine whether Founders School attracts and retains the right families.

Candidate requirements

  • You possess genuine comfort and proven effectiveness in cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals. You have accomplished this in a previous role—investor relations, private wealth management, private-client sales, luxury hospitality at the Four Seasons or Aman level, high-end real estate, or comparable environments—and you can interact as an equal with someone whose net worth reaches a billion dollars, interpret their idiosyncrasies, and position yourself as a peer rather than a subordinate. This is mandatory.
  • You are motivated by relationships, not transactions. You would feel uncomfortable in a high-pressure, commission-focused environment, and you are driven by creating something enduring and exceptional rather than hitting short-term targets.
  • You possess the organization and initiative required to independently manage an entire pipeline. Nothing slips through the gaps, and no family feels neglected after they commit.
  • You currently reside in New York, NY, or are prepared to relocate within 60 days.
  • You hold legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience in investor relations or relationship management at a fund—the closest parallel to this position. This explicitly includes high-performing individuals who have grown weary of the fundraising cycle and wish to apply the same skill set to something more meaningful.
  • An established network within, or credibility among, high-net-worth families in NYC.
  • Authentic conviction in the mission—that entrepreneurship offers a superior educational path compared to traditional models—and enthusiasm for communicating that narrative.
