Community Outreach Manager   $150,000 USD/year

Description

If you're someone who fills a room, remembers every person's name, and stays in touch for months afterward, this role is for you.

Alpha is reimagining education. Students finish core academics in two hours daily with AI-powered learning, then dedicate the remainder of their day to building critical skills: critical thinking, communication, entrepreneurship, and practical execution. Families select Alpha not due to marketing campaigns, but because they encounter something unavailable elsewhere. This position exists to design that encounter.

You will cultivate and expand the community that attracts outstanding families to Alpha and enables them to choose us with confidence over every competing school. You will manage the relational dimension of admissions—from a family's first event attendance through final enrollment—crafting experiences that establish trust well before any commitment is required. You will organize events, forge relationships, guide prospective families personally, and transform accepted applicants into enrolled students. This position suits someone who has previously built authentic communities, flourishes in settings filled with people, and recognizes that relationships influence important choices. You will collaborate directly with the Director of Admissions, Heads of School, and Admissions Associate while contributing to the strategic framework that will drive Alpha's expansion.

If you have created communities people truly wanted to join and feel energized by the chance to reshape education, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver high-impact community experiences, including information sessions, dinners for parents, campus tours, school fairs, events for accepted families, and partner gatherings.
  • Develop substantive relationships with families exploring Alpha, supporting them from their earliest inquiry through application submission and sustaining regular, personalized communication.
  • Take ownership of high school enrollment yield by designing experiences and outreach strategies that turn accepted families into enrolled families.
  • Establish and energize a dynamic community comprising current parents, prospective families, and ambassadors who enhance Alpha's standing and referral ecosystem.
  • Keep CRM records current and accurate, working in close partnership with the Admissions Associate and school leadership to deliver a seamless family experience.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing aggressive sales techniques or persuading families that are not well-suited for Alpha.
  • Handling application processing, interview scheduling, or final admissions determinations.
  • Developing marketing strategy or original brand messaging independently.
  • Overseeing a team rather than directly cultivating relationships and executing events yourself.
  • Operating remotely. Community building requires in-person presence.

Key responsibilities

Cultivate a flourishing community that reliably attracts exceptional families and transforms accepted students into enrolled students, driving sustainable admissions growth for Alpha.

Candidate requirements

  • Demonstrated experience establishing and expanding an in-person community from inception.
  • Verified success designing and executing events from initial concept through post-event follow-up.
  • Background in selling to or influencing deliberate, high-consideration decision-makers via relationship cultivation rather than transactional selling.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities with the capacity to build genuine rapport with discerning families.
  • Robust organizational capabilities with disciplined CRM practices and reliable follow-through.
  • Self-motivated, inventive, and capable of establishing order in unstructured environments.
  • Enthusiasm for Alpha's mission and conviction that AI is reshaping education's future.
  • Located in New York City or prepared to relocate.
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Background in private school admissions, alumni relations, nonprofit development, hospitality, or experiential event production.
  • Existing connections within the NYC education or parenting community.
  • Active social media or content platform that has successfully generated offline community engagement.
