Admissions Counselor   $150,000 USD/year

Description

If you're the one who energizes a room, keeps track of everyone's name, and stays in touch long after the conversation ends, this may be the role for you.

Alpha is redefining what school looks like. Students finish their core academics in just two hours daily with AI-powered learning, then dedicate the rest of their day to building essential skills: critical thinking, communication, entrepreneurship, and hands-on execution. Families select Alpha not because of advertising, but because they encounter something unavailable elsewhere. Your job is to create that encounter.

You'll develop and expand the community that connects outstanding families to Alpha and supports them as they confidently choose us over all other schools under consideration. You'll lead the human dimension of admissions—from a family's first event through final enrollment—designing experiences that establish trust well before any commitment is made. You'll organize events, cultivate relationships, personally guide prospective families, and turn accepted applicants into enrolled students. This position suits someone who has previously built authentic communities, flourishes when surrounded by people, and knows that relationships fuel important decisions. You'll collaborate directly with the Director of Admissions, Heads of School, and Admissions Associate while contributing to the framework that will guide Alpha's expansion.

If you've created communities people truly wanted to join and you're energized by the chance to help reshape education, we want to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver high-impact community events, including information sessions, parent dinners, campus tours, school fairs, accepted-family gatherings, and partner meetups.
  • Cultivate meaningful connections with prospective families, supporting them from first contact through application while maintaining consistent, personalized communication.
  • Take ownership of high school enrollment yield by designing experiences and follow-up approaches that turn accepted families into enrolled families.
  • Develop and energize a dynamic community of current parents, prospective families, and ambassadors who enhance Alpha's reputation and referral ecosystem.
  • Keep CRM records accurate and work closely with the Admissions Associate and school leadership to deliver a seamless experience for every family.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Relying on aggressive sales techniques or persuading families who aren't the right match.
  • Handling application processing, interview scheduling, or admissions decisions.
  • Developing marketing strategy or brand messaging independently.
  • Supervising a team rather than directly building relationships and executing events.
  • Working remotely. Building community happens in person.

Key responsibilities

Develop a flourishing community that reliably attracts exceptional families and transforms accepted students into enrolled students, delivering predictable admissions growth for Alpha.

Candidate requirements

  • Proven experience developing and expanding an in-person community from the ground up.
  • Demonstrated success planning and executing events from initial concept through follow-up.
  • Experience selling to or influencing thoughtful, high-consideration buyers through relationship building rather than transactional sales.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect authentically with sophisticated families.
  • Strong organizational skills with disciplined CRM usage and consistent follow-through.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable creating structure where none exists.
  • Passion for Alpha's mission and belief that AI is transforming the future of education.
  • Based in New York City or willing to relocate.
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Experience in private school admissions, alumni relations, nonprofit fundraising, hospitality, or experiential events.
  • An established network within the NYC education or parent community.
  • An engaged social media or content presence that has translated into real-world community building.
