Community Engagement Manager   $150,000 USD/year

Description

If you naturally connect with people, remember every detail, and maintain those relationships long after the first conversation, this is for you.

Alpha is reimagining education. Students finish their core academics in just two hours daily through AI-powered learning, then dedicate the remainder of their day to developing essential skills: critical thinking, communication, entrepreneurship, and practical execution. Families select Alpha not because of advertising, but because they discover an experience unavailable elsewhere. This position exists to design that experience.

You will establish and expand the community that attracts outstanding families to Alpha and empowers them to choose us confidently over every alternative school under consideration. You will manage the relational dimension of admissions, beginning with a family's first event and continuing through enrollment, crafting meaningful experiences that establish trust well before any commitment is required. You will organize events, cultivate relationships, guide prospective families personally, and transform accepted students into enrolled students. This position suits someone who has previously built authentic communities, excels in group settings, and recognizes that relationships fuel important decisions. You will collaborate directly with the Director of Admissions, Heads of School, and Admissions Associate while contributing to the framework that will guide Alpha's expansion.

If you have created communities people genuinely wanted to join and the prospect of transforming education excites you, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver impactful community events, including information sessions, parent dinners, campus tours, school fairs, accepted-family gatherings, and partner meetings.
  • Develop authentic relationships with prospective families, supporting them from first contact through application and sustaining consistent, personalized communication.
  • Drive enrollment yield for the high school by designing experiences and outreach strategies that turn accepted families into enrolled families.
  • Establish and energize a dynamic community of current parents, prospective families, and ambassadors who enhance Alpha's reputation and referral ecosystem.
  • Keep CRM records current and work closely with the Admissions Associate and school leadership to deliver a seamless experience for every family.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing aggressive sales methods or persuading families who are not a good match.
  • Handling application processing, interview scheduling, or admissions decisions.
  • Developing marketing strategy or brand messaging independently.
  • Supervising a team rather than personally cultivating relationships and executing events.
  • Operating remotely. Community building happens in person.

Key responsibilities

Create a flourishing community that reliably attracts outstanding families and transforms accepted students into enrolled students, generating consistent admissions growth for Alpha.

Candidate requirements

  • Demonstrated experience establishing and expanding an in-person community from inception.
  • Confirmed success organizing and executing events from planning through follow-up.
  • Experience influencing or selling to deliberate, high-consideration decision-makers through relationship cultivation rather than transactional approaches.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities with the capacity to connect genuinely with discerning families.
  • Solid organizational capabilities with rigorous CRM usage and reliable follow-through.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and at ease establishing structure in undefined environments.
  • Enthusiasm for Alpha's mission and conviction that AI is reshaping the future of education.
  • Located in New York City or prepared to relocate.
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Background in private school admissions, alumni relations, nonprofit fundraising, hospitality, or experiential events.
  • Existing network within the NYC education or parent community.
  • Active social media or content presence that has resulted in tangible community building.
