Director of Strategic Finance   $200,000 USD/year

Description

This is not traditional FP&A. This is financial operations built for doers.

At 2 Hour Learning, you won't spend time on static budgets or depend on business intelligence teams. Instead, you'll construct the models, dashboards, and controls that provide operators and executives with the clarity required to make confident, real-time decisions. Your contributions will influence everything from new school openings to major strategic shifts, and the work must be rapid, precise, and dependable.

You will take ownership of a live, AI-powered finance infrastructure. This includes unified P&L models for every school and business line, rolling forecasts spanning 12–18 months that remain current within 72 hours, and dashboards that isolate the handful of drivers that truly drive performance. You'll deliver all of this using Klair, Syft, and Retool—without relying on engineering resources.

If you want your financial models to shape execution rather than simply document it, this role is for you. You won't observe from the periphery. You'll be central to how we operate and adapt.

What you will be doing

  • Construct and maintain living 3-statement models for every school and vertical — integrating enrollment, staffing, and capital expenditure into a unified forecast.
  • Refresh rolling 12–18 month forecasts on a weekly basis using current data, and stress-test scenarios for upside and downside exposure.
  • Create executive dashboards powered by real-time data — surfacing critical levers and supporting confident, day-to-day decision-making.
  • Deploy AI and automation to identify anomalies, monitor variances, and remove spreadsheet friction across the finance function.
  • Draft concise memos summarizing financial exposure, strategic alternatives, and budgetary impact — at board-ready quality, delivered within 72 hours.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Running a sluggish budget cycle — your forecasts adapt alongside the business in real time.
  • Monitoring expense accounts or tracking down receipts — you prioritize insight and governance, not red tape.
  • Depending on BI teams — you design and build the tools, dashboards, and models independently.
  • Getting lost in irrelevant detail — your role is to extract the handful of insights that shift outcomes.
  • Creating reports that gather dust — your output influences decisions within days.

Key responsibilities

Provide continuously updated financial models, forecasts, and dashboards that enable daily decision-making and strategic transparency across a fast-expanding network of schools.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Math (CPA/CFA/MBA is a plus)
  • U.S.-based and authorized to work without sponsorship
  • Willing to travel ~25% to campuses across the U.S.
  • 3–6 years in investment banking, private equity, Big 4 corp finance/M&A (not audit), or high-growth FP&A
  • Proven experience building integrated 3-statement models tied to U.S. GAAP
  • Comfortable delivering investor-grade analysis and recommendations under tight deadlines
  • Daily user of AI/automation tools (e.g., GPT, Klair, Syft, Retool, NetSuite automations)

Nice to have

  • ERP experience in NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP
  • Familiarity with multi-site education, facilities, or ops-heavy industries
  • Experience with board-level reporting or investor-facing materials
  • Track record of building AI-automated dashboards or low-code finance tools
  • Exposure to high-end service environments with exacting financial standards
