Senior Director of Operations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Operations is not a support function at 2 Hour Learning—it is the product itself.

Our AI-native K-12 school network operates at national scale, and campus systems must function flawlessly to support that growth. The Operations team does not simply assist with expansion; they are the architects of it. Every team member specializes in one of five critical operational domains, developing deep expertise rapidly through hands-on execution and AI-enhanced learning:

  • Authorization & Permitting – Navigate multi-state legal frameworks and accelerate local permitting to open new markets.
  • Physical Build-Out & Maintenance – Direct campus construction projects, facility upgrades, and vendor accountability to deliver and maintain superior learning environments.
  • IT Operational Setup – Deploy all technology systems—hardware, software, support infrastructure, and compliance protocols—fully operational for every school launch.
  • Financial Operations – Create budgets, generate real-time insight dashboards, and ensure audit-ready financial governance across all schools and business units.
  • PMO – Drive execution of strategic technology and marketing projects using vendor scorecards, performance dashboards, and initiative tracking.

You will create dashboards that eliminate financial ambiguity. Engineer onboarding processes that cut student setup errors by half. Obtain regulatory clearance in additional states. Launch campus facilities ahead of schedule. Or design AI-driven workflows that remove entire layers of conventional oversight. This is mission-critical, rapid-cycle execution—carried out by operators, not observers.

If you are the type of professional who identifies constraints and immediately builds solutions—rather than convening discussions—this environment will suit you. The systems you create will enable the launch of 25–30 new schools over the coming year. Your contributions will establish operational standards for hundreds of employees and thousands of students. Your results will be undeniable.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of one of five operational pillars: Authorization, Build-Out, Platforms, Finance, or PMO
  • Addressing novel challenges within your domain through AI tools, automation, and iterative problem-solving
  • Producing precise specifications, dashboards, or procedural guides that function effectively across multiple school sites
  • Engaging directly with operational realities: facility contractors, regulatory bodies, technology platforms, and personnel
  • Visiting school campuses as necessary to deploy or validate your operational solutions

What you will NOT be doing

  • Relying on product or engineering teams to develop your operational tools—you will build prototypes and automations independently
  • Using AI to generate a standard operating procedure without validation—you will create functional, tested solutions
  • Operating exclusively from a headquarters location—you will travel regularly and deliver results on-site
  • Delegating execution of your strategic plans—you will own both design and implementation from start to finish

Key responsibilities

Deliver measurable outcomes in your designated operations pillar by designing and implementing systems that enable rapid, accurate, AI-enabled school expansion at scale.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in North America with availability to travel 25-75% as required
  • 5+ years of experience in high-velocity, autonomous operations roles
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and written communication proficiency
  • Action-oriented mindset, minimal ego, strong sense of ownership
  • Professional background in at least one of: regulatory compliance, facilities construction, SaaS onboarding, FP&A, or technology vendor management
  • Applies AI tools naturally and consistently across diverse tasks, comparable to how others use spreadsheets.
  • Has developed automations, structured operational workflows, and explored vibe-coding for productivity or interest.
  • Proven ability to acquire domain expertise quickly across fields such as legal, finance, compliance, or systems
