Regulatory Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role isn't about administrative busywork — it's about getting real schools launched and operational.

2 Hour Learning is reimagining how education works, allowing students to reclaim their time. We use AI-driven personalization to condense a traditional school day into two highly focused hours, freeing students to develop practical, real-world capabilities instead of simply occupying desks. But none of that transformation can happen until a school is properly opened — with every legal requirement met, every safety standard cleared, and every deadline hit. That's your mission.

This position doesn't involve setting policy from afar or theorizing about process. You'll be in the field (and frequently traveling), converting signed leases into functioning campuses: investigating municipal codes, contacting building inspectors, securing necessary approvals, coordinating with contractors, and leveraging AI to accelerate timelines by weeks. You'll collaborate closely with experienced operators and construction professionals — not from behind a desk, but at active sites and within municipal offices, delivering results you can physically point to and say, "I made that school happen."

This opportunity is designed for a quick study who seeks more than résumé filler. You'll deliver meaningful work, assume responsibility early, and advance rapidly. If you thrive on converting disorder into organized workflows and phone calls into official clearances, let's talk.

What you will be doing

  • Investigating municipal and state requirements, then converting regulatory complexity into actionable roadmaps using AI resources and authoritative government channels
  • Assembling and submitting accurate, thorough documentation — including licenses, inspection requests, and exemption applications — and monitoring their progress through approval
  • Engaging with municipal staff, aligning contractor schedules, and ensuring construction milestones stay synchronized with regulatory timelines
  • Maintaining real-time tracking systems and dashboards so internal teams have full visibility into completion status, blockers, and upcoming tasks
  • Traveling 3–4 days per week to various U.S. cities to drive campus openings forward in person

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely while speculating about compliance — you'll confirm requirements directly from official, primary sources
  • Waiting to be told what comes next — this position demands proactive problem-solving, not reactive task completion
  • Spending hours drafting generic text — we rely on AI to accelerate precision communication, not to produce filler content
  • Dwelling on theoretical planning — this is hands-on execution with firm deadlines and tangible outcomes
  • Becoming a road warrior — travel is frequent and purposeful, but balanced, and all expenses are covered

Key responsibilities

Drive compliant, punctual campus launches by integrating AI-powered regulatory research, construction coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the U.S. with work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship
  • Available to travel 60–80% of the time to cities and states throughout the U.S.
  • Proven experience using AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research, project planning, or stakeholder communication
  • Strong communicator — personable over the phone, precise in writing, and capable with diverse stakeholders
  • History of consistently meeting or surpassing deadlines in dynamic, high-tempo settings
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — ensuring every document, signature, and follow-up action is accurate and timely
  • Rapid learner — able to quickly grasp unfamiliar regulatory frameworks, operational processes, or technology platforms
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects, deadlines, and external relationships concurrently

Nice to have

  • Prior involvement in construction-related, operations-intensive, or compliance-focused roles (including internships)
  • Educational background in public policy, business administration, communications, or legal fields
  • Demonstrated success resolving complex logistical challenges in professional, internship, or volunteer capacities
