Compliance Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role isn't about administrative busywork — it's about launching real schools.

2 Hour Learning is rethinking how education works. Our approach condenses a traditional school day into two intensive hours powered by AI-driven personalization, freeing students to spend their afternoons developing practical, real-world capabilities instead of filling seats. But none of that innovation matters until a school is officially open — compliant, safe, and ready to serve students. That's your mission.

You won't be drafting policy memos or managing teams remotely. You'll be in the field (and frequently in transit), transforming signed leases into operational campuses: digging into municipal codes, contacting regulatory officials, securing necessary approvals, coordinating build-out schedules, and leveraging AI to accelerate timelines beyond what's typically expected. You'll collaborate closely with experienced operators and construction professionals — not from behind a desk, but at live construction sites and municipal offices, driving outcomes you can tangibly claim: "That campus opened on schedule because of my work."

This position suits a rapid learner seeking more than résumé padding. You'll deliver work with real impact, assume ownership from day one, and advance quickly. If you thrive on converting ambiguity into action items and phone calls into green lights, let's talk.

What you will be doing

  • Investigating jurisdiction-specific regulations and converting bureaucratic complexity into executable plans using AI tools and authoritative sources
  • Assembling and filing accurate, thorough documentation — permits, licenses, inspections, exemptions — and shepherding them through to approval
  • Engaging with municipal staff, aligning contractor schedules, and synchronizing construction progress with regulatory milestones
  • Maintaining project trackers and status dashboards to ensure visibility on completed tasks, bottlenecks, and upcoming priorities
  • Traveling 3-4 days weekly to U.S. cities to physically advance school launch activities on location

What you will NOT be doing

  • Speculating about compliance from a distance — you'll confirm details directly with official sources
  • Waiting for explicit instructions on next moves — this role demands proactive ownership, not reactive compliance
  • Drafting generic filler content — we deploy AI to enhance precision, not produce empty text
  • Losing yourself in theoretical planning — this is results-driven execution with firm deadlines and measurable outcomes
  • Becoming a road warrior with no purpose — travel is frequent but strategic, and all expenses are reimbursed

Key responsibilities

Drive compliant, punctual campus openings by integrating AI-powered regulatory research, construction coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the U.S. with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Available to travel 60-80% of the time to various U.S. cities and states
  • Proven experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research, planning, or communication tasks
  • Strong communicator — approachable over the phone, concise in writing, persuasive with stakeholders
  • History of consistently meeting or surpassing deadlines in dynamic, high-pressure settings
  • Meticulous attention to detail — ensuring every document, signature, and follow-up is accurate
  • Rapid learning ability — swiftly grasps unfamiliar regulatory frameworks, workflows, or technologies
  • Adept at managing multiple projects, timelines, and external collaborators concurrently

Nice to have

  • Background in construction-related, operations-intensive, or compliance-focused roles (internships included)
  • Academic or professional experience in public policy, business, communications, or legal fields
  • Prior success resolving complex logistical challenges in employment, internships, or volunteer capacities
