Senior Vice President Campus Design   $400,000 USD/year

Description

If you've ever walked into a space and felt, "This is precisely what it should be," and then wondered how to replicate that feeling across 100 locations, this position was designed for you. We're not seeking a conceptual designer. We're seeking the systems architect who can establish a national function that reliably produces premium, branded, and pedagogically coherent environments at scale.

At 2 Hour Learning, our approach inverts the traditional school day. Two hours of concentrated academics. The remainder dedicated to passion, movement, and real-world learning. That fundamental shift requires spaces that are equally deliberate — and we need a leader to drive this initiative. You'll design the systems, standards, and teams that guarantee every campus fulfills that vision. You'll oversee a growing team of regional design leads and vendors, coordinate priorities across departments, and pinpoint the design innovations that advance experience, perception, and retention.

This isn't a role for creative isolation. You'll be in the field, coaching team members, inspecting installations, and refining the playbook as you go. You'll construct the engine that scales exceptional environments — and ensure it operates flawlessly.

What you will be doing

  • Establish and oversee a national Space & Design function, including organizational structure, vendor partnerships, and performance frameworks
  • Create and refine modular standards, visual identity, and documentation to enable consistent deployment across varied campuses
  • Coordinate design investments with CapEx strategy, enrollment expansion, and operational parameters through data-driven planning
  • Discover, test, and implement design innovations that enhance student experience, parent perception, and staff satisfaction
  • Function as a strategic partner to cross-functional leadership

What you will NOT be doing

  • Designing spaces manually — your role is to scale the people and systems who execute
  • Pursuing isolated upgrades or vanity initiatives — all work is connected to tangible outcomes and ROI
  • Operating as an independent creative leader — this position is fully integrated with planning, execution, and performance
  • Leading remotely — you'll travel frequently to remain engaged with on-the-ground execution and team growth
  • Preserving the status quo — you'll be required to continuously evolve and enhance the function

Key responsibilities

Establish and lead a scalable design function that guarantees every campus provides a premium, brand-aligned, and pedagogically supportive environment — with quantifiable impact on experience, enrollment, and retention.

Candidate requirements

  • 8+ years managing physical environments across a multi-site organization, with at least 25+ locations
  • Direct experience designing spaces for UHNW clients or luxury brands, with the ability to identify premium quality in every detail
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a team, oversee external partners, and organize a national rollout function
  • Experience developing and refining standards-based design systems for diverse site types
  • Strategic planning capability with cross-functional teams
  • Refined taste and judgment, combined with operational and financial discipline
  • Based in the U.S., authorized to work without visa sponsorship, and able to travel 50% or more

Nice to have

  • Experience in rapidly scaling, brand-conscious environments such as boutique hospitality, premium retail, or networked education
  • Portfolio showcasing both physical design excellence and the capacity to scale systems across a portfolio
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience presenting to executives, boards, or investors
