If you've ever entered a space and recognized, "This feels exactly right," and then wondered how to replicate that experience across 100 locations, this position was designed for you. We're not seeking a concept designer. We're seeking the systems architect who can establish a national capability that reliably produces premium, brand-aligned, and pedagogically intentional environments at scale.

At 2 Hour Learning, our approach inverts the traditional school day. Two hours dedicated to rigorous academics. The remainder reserved for passion projects, physical activity, and experiential learning. That fundamental transformation requires spaces that are equally deliberate — and we need a leader to drive this effort. You'll design the frameworks, benchmarks, and teams that guarantee every campus fulfills that vision. You'll oversee an expanding team of regional design leaders and contractor partnerships, harmonize priorities across functions, and pinpoint the design advances that elevate experience, brand perception, and student retention.

This is not a conceptual leadership position. You'll be in the field, coaching team members, inspecting installations, and iterating on the operational playbook continuously. You'll construct the infrastructure that scales superior environments — and ensure its sustained performance.

What you will be doing

  • Establish and direct a national Space & Design function, encompassing team architecture, contractor ecosystem, and accountability frameworks
  • Develop and refine modular design standards, brand identity systems, and technical documentation to enable consistent deployment across varied campus formats
  • Synchronize design capital allocation with CapEx planning, enrollment trajectories, and operational realities using evidence-based forecasting
  • Source, test, and implement design innovations that enhance student experience, family perception, and educator satisfaction
  • Function as a strategic collaborator to cross-functional leadership

What you will NOT be doing

  • Executing design work yourself — your responsibility is scaling the talent and infrastructure that execute
  • Pursuing isolated enhancements or prestige initiatives — every effort connects to measurable outcomes and return on investment
  • Functioning as an independent creative authority — this position is fully integrated with planning, implementation, and performance management
  • Leading remotely — you'll travel frequently to maintain proximity to on-site execution and team growth
  • Preserving existing approaches — you'll be tasked with advancing and refining the function continuously

Key responsibilities

Establish and direct a scalable design organization that guarantees every campus provides a premium, brand-consistent, and pedagogically intentional environment — producing quantifiable impact on experience quality, enrollment figures, and retention rates.

Candidate requirements

  • 8+ years leading physical environment strategy across a multi-location organization, with at least 25+ sites
  • Direct experience creating spaces for UHNW clientele or luxury brands, with demonstrated ability to identify premium quality across every touchpoint
  • Documented success building and managing teams, directing external vendor relationships, and architecting a national deployment capability
  • Track record developing and refining standards-driven design frameworks for heterogeneous site portfolios
  • Strategic planning expertise in cross-functional organizational contexts
  • Refined aesthetic judgment combined with operational rigor and fiscal accountability
  • Based in the U.S., authorized to work without visa sponsorship, and willing to travel 50% or more

Nice to have

  • Experience in high-growth, brand-critical sectors such as boutique hospitality, luxury retail, or networked education models
  • Portfolio evidencing both physical design mastery and proven capacity to scale systems across multiple properties
  • Advanced presentation capabilities with experience engaging executives, board members, or investor audiences
