Lead Product Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Remote · Contractor · $50/hr

This position is designed for exceptional engineers who excel at ownership, strategic thinking, and solving demanding technical problems. You will be responsible for developing the product's most critical features while defining its technical roadmap and safeguarding its long-term resilience and expansion. The technical choices you make will have a direct effect on the product and its user base, offering you both the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

Our products are reshaping how students learn:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures within a TikTok-style educational platform.
  • TeachTales: Captivates learners through customized, enchanting narratives that improve understanding.
  • TimeBack: Functions as an intelligent learning assistant that connects with current applications to guide students proactively.
  • Athena: Delivers quantifiable learning gains through AI-created videos and assessments.

Your role will be to steer the technical advancement of these products, making certain they remain scalable, maintainable, and dependable over time. Working in close partnership with product stakeholders, you will convert broad requirements into concrete technical architectures and address intricate challenges while upholding rigorous quality benchmarks. The decisions you make will determine the product's trajectory and affect the educational journeys of thousands of students.

We emphasize careful planning and deliberate design from the outset. Our AI-driven methodology handles repetitive work, allowing you to concentrate on strategic decisions and meaningful problem-solving. You will enjoy substantial autonomy and the opportunity to shape product priorities with a focus on enduring stability and scalability.

If you are prepared to guide the technical transformation of our SaaS offerings and harness generative AI to expand what's possible, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and delivering new capabilities with emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and sustained product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with product leadership to clarify requirements and guiding technical conversations to ensure features align with strategic objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product health, optimizing performance, and preemptively detecting and addressing potential issues.
  • Technical Design: Driving high-stakes technical choices that directly shape user experience and product growth.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between transient projects or pursuing the latest trending technologies without strategic purpose.
  • Contributing to internal IT infrastructure or outsourced engagements that lack meaningful user interaction.
  • Being trapped in unproductive meeting cycles or wrestling with monotonous infrastructure problems.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
