Lead Product Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role is for an experienced engineer ready to take ownership of critical features, drive technical strategy, and solve high-stakes challenges. You will define the technical direction of a product, build its most impactful capabilities, and ensure its long-term resilience and scalability. The technical choices you make will directly shape product outcomes and user experiences, giving you both the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

Our products are redefining how students engage with learning:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures in an immersive, TikTok-style educational format.
  • TeachTales: Delivers personalized, story-driven learning that enhances student comprehension.
  • TimeBack: Serves as an intelligent learning assistant, embedding into existing tools to guide students proactively.
  • Athena: Generates AI-powered videos and assessments to drive measurable improvements in student performance.

Your work will steer the technical trajectory of these products, ensuring they remain scalable, maintainable, and built to last. Working hand-in-hand with product teams, you will convert strategic requirements into sound technical architectures and navigate complex engineering problems without compromising quality. The decisions you make will define the product roadmap and affect the educational journeys of thousands of learners.

We value deliberate planning and upfront architectural thinking. Our AI-driven workflows handle repetitive work, allowing you to concentrate on impactful design and strategic problem-solving. You will enjoy significant autonomy, the opportunity to steer product priorities, and the mandate to safeguard long-term product health.

If you are prepared to own the technical future of SaaS products and harness generative AI to expand what's possible, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and delivering new capabilities with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and enduring product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with product teams to clarify and refine requirements, and guiding technical conversations to ensure features align with broader product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product health, optimizing performance, and proactively detecting and addressing potential issues.
  • Technical Design: Making high-impact technical choices that influence both user experience and the ability of the product to scale effectively.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Bouncing between transient initiatives or chasing fashionable but unproven technologies.
  • Building internal IT tooling or servicing outsourced engagements with limited user relevance.
  • Spending time in unproductive meetings or troubleshooting routine infrastructure headaches.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
