Lead Product Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This position is designed for a highly skilled engineer who values ownership, strategic impact, and solving intricate technical problems. You will be responsible for developing the core features of a product while simultaneously guiding its technical trajectory and safeguarding its long-term stability and expansion. The technical choices you make will have a direct effect on the product and its end users, granting you the freedom to innovate alongside the accountability to execute.

The products you'll contribute to are reshaping education:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures within a TikTok-style learning platform.
  • TeachTales: Captures student interest through customized, enchanting storytelling that enhances understanding.
  • TimeBack: Functions as a learning assistant that works with existing applications, offering proactive student guidance.
  • Athena: Employs AI-generated videos and assessments to produce quantifiable learning results.

Your role will involve steering the technical advancement of our products, guaranteeing they remain scalable, maintainable, and resilient over time. Working in close partnership with product teams, you will convert broad requirements into concrete technical design decisions and address sophisticated challenges while upholding rigorous quality benchmarks. The choices you make will define the product's trajectory and affect how thousands of students engage with learning.

Our workflow emphasizes careful planning and upfront design. By adopting an AI-first methodology, we automate routine tasks, allowing you to concentrate on high-value decisions and complex problem-solving. You will operate with significant autonomy and possess the capacity to shape product direction while emphasizing long-term stability and scalability.

If you are prepared to spearhead the technical progression of our SaaS offerings and harness generative AI to explore new frontiers, we invite your application.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and building new features with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and sustained product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Working alongside the product team to clarify requirements and guiding technical conversations to ensure features support product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product stability, optimizing performance, and proactively detecting and addressing potential issues.
  • Technical Design: Executing high-stakes technical decisions that directly influence user experience and product scalability.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between short-lived projects or pursuing the latest technology fads.
  • Contributing to internal IT infrastructure or outsourced initiatives that lack meaningful user impact.
  • Being bogged down by excessive meetings or wrestling with monotonous infrastructure challenges.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
