Lead Product Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Are you an accomplished engineer who excels at owning complex technical challenges, shaping strategic direction, and driving product innovation? This position offers you the opportunity to develop the most critical features of a product while guiding its technical trajectory and safeguarding its long-term resilience and expansion. The technical choices you make will have a direct effect on the product and its user base, granting you both the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

You'll contribute to products that are reshaping education:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures in a TikTok-style learning environment.
  • TeachTales: Captivates students through personalized, enchanting storytelling that enhances comprehension.
  • TimeBack: Functions as a learning copilot that connects with existing applications, actively guiding students.
  • Athena: Employs AI-generated videos and assessments to produce measurable academic results.

You will lead the technical advancement of our products, ensuring they remain scalable, maintainable, and durable over time. Working in close partnership with product teams, you will convert high-level objectives into technical design decisions and address sophisticated challenges while upholding rigorous quality standards. Your choices will define the product's trajectory and affect how thousands of students engage with learning.

We emphasize deliberate planning and early-stage design. Our AI-first methodology automates routine work, allowing you to concentrate on high-impact decisions and strategic problem-solving. You will operate with substantial autonomy and possess the authority to shape product direction and champion long-term stability and scalability.

If you are prepared to spearhead the technical transformation of our SaaS products and harness generative AI to expand what's possible, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and building new features with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and sustained product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with the product team to clarify requirements and guiding technical conversations to ensure features align with product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing and sustaining product reliability, optimizing performance, and proactively detecting and addressing issues.
  • Technical Design: Driving high-stakes technical decisions that directly influence user experience and product scalability.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between short-term projects or pursuing the latest hype-driven technology trends.
  • Contributing to internal IT systems or outsourced initiatives that lack genuine user impact.
  • Spending time in endless meetings or grappling with tedious infrastructure challenges.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
