Senior Software Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This position is for a highly skilled engineer who excels at taking ownership, driving strategic impact, and solving sophisticated technical problems. You will develop the most critical features of a product while simultaneously guiding its technical trajectory and safeguarding its long-term resilience and scalability. The technical choices you make will have a direct effect on the product and its user base, granting you the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

Your work will focus on products that are revolutionizing education:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures within a TikTok-style educational platform.
  • TeachTales: Captivates learners through personalized, enchanting narratives that enhance understanding.
  • TimeBack: Serves as a learning assistant that connects with existing applications, actively guiding students.
  • Athena: Employs AI-created videos and assessments to produce quantifiable learning results.

Your role will be to drive the technical advancement of these products, making certain they remain scalable, maintainable, and resilient over time. Working in close partnership with product teams, you will convert broad requirements into concrete technical designs and address intricate challenges while upholding rigorous quality benchmarks. The decisions you make will determine the product's trajectory and affect how thousands of learners engage with educational content.

Our culture emphasizes deliberate planning and upfront architectural design. We adopt an AI-first methodology that automates repetitive work, allowing you to concentrate on strategic decisions and complex problem-solving. You will enjoy substantial autonomy and the capacity to shape product strategy while prioritizing enduring stability and scalability.

If you are prepared to lead the technical transformation of our SaaS offerings and harness generative AI to expand what is possible, we encourage you to apply.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Building and designing new capabilities with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and sustained product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with the product team to clarify requirements and guiding technical conversations to ensure features align with product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product stability, optimizing performance, and proactively detecting and addressing issues.
  • Technical Design: Making high-stakes technical choices that directly influence user experience and product scalability.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between short-lived projects or pursuing the latest hyped technology trends.
  • Developing internal IT systems or working on outsourced initiatives that lack genuine user impact.
  • Being trapped in constant meetings or managing tedious infrastructure problems.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
