Principal Software Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

As a top-tier engineer, you will assume ownership of strategic technical challenges that define product success. This role positions you to build critical product features while guiding technical direction and safeguarding long-term stability and growth. The technical choices you make will directly affect both the product and its user base, granting you the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

The products you'll contribute to are reshaping how learning happens:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures within a TikTok-style learning interface.
  • TeachTales: Delivers personalized, immersive storytelling that enhances student comprehension.
  • TimeBack: Functions as a learning copilot, embedding itself into existing applications to coach students proactively.
  • Athena: Employs AI-generated videos and assessments to produce measurable educational results.

Your role will be to advance the technical architecture of our products, making them scalable, maintainable, and resilient over time. Working in close partnership with product teams, you will convert strategic requirements into concrete technical designs and navigate complex problems without compromising quality. The decisions you make will define the product's trajectory and affect how thousands of students engage with learning.

Our workflow emphasizes deliberate planning and design-first thinking. By adopting an AI-first methodology, we automate repetitive work, allowing you to concentrate on impactful decisions and sophisticated problem-solving. You will enjoy significant autonomy and the capacity to shape product priorities, always with an eye toward long-term stability and scalability.

If you are prepared to lead technical advancement across our SaaS offerings and harness generative AI to redefine what's possible, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and building new features with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and enduring product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with product teams to refine specifications and spearheading technical conversations that ensure features align with overarching product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product stability through monitoring, performance optimization, and proactive identification and resolution of technical issues.
  • Technical Design: Making high-stakes technical decisions that directly influence user experience and product scalability.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between short-lived projects or pursuing the latest technology fads.
  • Supporting internal IT infrastructure or outsourced engagements that lack genuine user impact.
  • Spending time in unproductive meetings or wrestling with tedious infrastructure maintenance.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
