Description

We are seeking Technical Team Leads to ensure delivery excellence and quality for our application-layer products. In this role, you will guide a compact team of 3-5 engineers developing educational applications that serve thousands of students.

  • Athena: AI-powered videos and assessments that produce quantifiable learning results
  • TeachTap: AI-driven platform recreating historical personalities within a TikTok-inspired educational format
  • TeachTales: Customized storytelling experiences designed to enhance reading comprehension
  • TrashCat: Game-based learning platform that makes education enjoyable and interactive

This position operates as a player-coach hybrid: half your time spent implementing sophisticated features, the other half dedicated to mentoring and empowering your engineers. You define quality expectations, create architectural patterns, conduct code reviews emphasizing educational feedback, and support professional development. Team success—not merely personal output—is your primary measure of accountability.

Compact team structure, substantial ownership, zero red tape. Technical leadership is your domain; people management responsibilities rest elsewhere.

What you will be doing

  • Implementing sophisticated features that establish technical patterns for the team
  • Conducting pull request reviews with comprehensive, instructional commentary
  • Developing engineers through pair programming and targeted feedback
  • Organizing technical initiatives and decomposing product requirements
  • Defining quality benchmarks and verifying team adherence

What you will NOT be doing

  • Handling personnel matters (recruitment, termination, performance evaluations, career development discussions)
  • Building platform-level or infrastructure components
  • Attending prolonged or excessive meetings
  • Designing systems without hands-on coding

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of full-stack software development experience
  • At least 2 years in a leadership capacity (conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, defining team standards)
  • Proven history of delivering SaaS products to market
  • Practical experience integrating AI tools into development processes
  • Confirmed capability to elevate the skills and performance of fellow engineers
