Senior Platform Engineer

$200,000 USD/year ^{Pay is set based on global value, not the local market. Most roles = hourly rate x 40 hrs x 50 weeks}  ($100 USD/hour)

We are seeking Platform Architects to establish the foundational systems upon which other engineering teams construct their solutions. Your work will center on platform-tier products where the API contracts you define, the architectural patterns you establish, and the technical documentation you produce will determine how numerous teams approach development.

Platform products in scope:

• TimeBack: Educational platform that enables Alpha School's 2-hour learning methodology (99th percentile test outcomes)
• Incept: Content generation infrastructure producing tailored educational materials across multiple learning systems
• Crossover: AI-driven recruitment platform handling tens of thousands of candidate applications each month
• This position emphasizes design: 50% producing specifications, API definitions, and architectural decisions; 30% building sophisticated platform capabilities; 20% code review and technical guidance. You hold technical authority on architectural choices. Once team alignment is achieved, your specifications become binding.

Lean team of capable engineers, direct ownership, minimal process overhead. You architect it, you implement it, you maintain it.
