Senior Associate   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Work on-site at Alpha School's Brownsville, TX campus
  • W2 salary of $100,000/year with weekly pay. Health benefits begin immediately.
  • Relocation assistance available for candidates committing to one full school year on campus

You have years of experience coaching young people — not just teaching them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting with students, challenging them, and holding the line when they try to settle for mediocrity. Teaching is content delivery. You've never reduced yourself to a content delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates one of the most nontraditional schools in existence. Students do not sit in rows listening to lectures. Instead, they progress through AI-driven learning software at an individualized pace. The AI manages the instructional material. Your responsibility is to facilitate life skills workshops that capture the attention of a K-8 audience, lead motivation sessions that drive students toward weekly learning targets, and maintain high standards when a student attempts to underperform. The academic curriculum runs itself. You are responsible for the human dimension.

This position offers a meaningful progression path, and that path is measured by greater student influence. Educators who reliably deliver results (100% of students achieving weekly app targets, satisfaction scores at or above 90%) advance into Lead Guide positions where they train other educators to execute this work more effectively. Students remain the focus.

The campus is located in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If your motivation for leaving your current position is mission-driven — transforming what young people believe they are capable of — rather than career optics, you should apply.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students on topics including public speaking, focus, and how to give and receive feedback
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify genuine skill acquisition, not passive participation
  • Leading daily motivation sessions informed by student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to ensure 100% of your cohort meets their weekly app progression targets
  • Using storytelling techniques, incentive systems (school currency, leaderboards), and one-on-one connection to overcome student disengagement
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction scores with a goal of achieving 90%+ on student feedback surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Lecturing from the front of a classroom. Academic progress occurs through self-paced AI-driven apps, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Supervising passive screen time. While students work on computers, your role is active engagement, not passive oversight.
  • Compromising standards when students resist. Test2Pass benchmarks remain firm, even during difficult weeks.
  • Creating original curriculum. Workshop frameworks and lesson plans are pre-built; your responsibility is to deliver them with the narrative skill and presence that ensures genuine student learning.
  • Handling parent communications, admissions processes, or campus logistics. Those functions belong to separate roles.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that earn satisfaction scores of 90% or higher.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation skills — capable of sustaining children's engagement for one-hour sessions
  • Availability to work on-site at the Alpha campus located in Brownsville, TX
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as a sports coach, camp counselor, or facilitator in youth programs
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-directed or app-based educational environments
