Camp Coordinator   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Based on-site at the Alpha School campus in Brownsville, TX
  • $100,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay. Health benefits begin day one.
  • Relocation assistance available for candidates committing to a full school year on campus

You've built your career coaching young people — not simply teaching them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting with students, challenging them, and holding them accountable to their potential. Teaching often means delivering curriculum. You've never seen yourself as a curriculum delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates a school model unlike anything you've encountered. Students don't occupy desks in rows listening to lectures. Instead, they progress through AI-driven learning applications at individualized paces. The AI manages instructional delivery. Your responsibility is facilitating life skills workshops that command the attention of K-8 learners, leading motivation sessions that drive them toward their weekly learning targets, and maintaining standards when students attempt to disengage. Academic advancement is automated. You own the human dimension.

This position offers a meaningful career trajectory, and that trajectory centers on deepening student outcomes. Guides who consistently achieve performance benchmarks (100% cohort attainment of weekly app goals, satisfaction scores at or above 90%) advance into Lead Guide positions where they mentor fellow educators in refining their practice. Students remain the focus.

The campus sits in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If your motivation for leaving your current position is the mission — reshaping what children believe they're capable of — rather than career optics, submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students on topics including public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify that students have genuinely acquired the skill, not merely attended the session
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions informed by student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to ensure 100% of your cohort reaches their weekly app progression goals
  • Leveraging storytelling techniques, incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and individual rapport to overcome student resistance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction scores with a target of 90%+ on student feedback surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Lecturing from the front of the room. Academic progression happens through self-directed AI-powered applications, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Supervising without engagement. The environment involves students using computers; your role demands active facilitation.
  • Compromising standards in response to student resistance. Test2Pass expectations remain consistent, even when students face difficult weeks.
  • Creating lesson materials from the ground up. Workshop playbooks and lesson frameworks are supplied; your responsibility is executing them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures genuine student learning.
  • Handling parent relations, admissions processes, or campus-level operations. Those functions belong to separate roles.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that maintain 90%+ satisfaction scores.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Strong storytelling ability and facilitation presence — capable of maintaining the engagement of children for one-hour sessions
  • Availability to work on-site at the Alpha campus in Brownsville, TX
  • Authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program leader
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-directed or app-based learning models
