Camp Coordinator   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position at the Alpha School campus in Brownsville, TX
  • $100,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay. Health benefits begin on day one.
  • Relocation assistance available for candidates committing to a full school year on campus

Your background is in coaching kids — not teaching them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting with students, setting high expectations, and refusing to accept mediocrity. Teaching means delivering information. You've never seen yourself as an information delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates the most unorthodox school environment you'll encounter. Students don't occupy rows while being lectured. They progress through AI-powered learning platforms at individualized speeds. AI manages the academic instruction. Your responsibility is to facilitate life skills workshops that capture the attention of K-8 students, lead motivation sessions that drive them toward their weekly learning targets, and maintain standards when a student attempts to underperform. The academic component is handled. You manage the human dimension.

This position offers a meaningful growth trajectory, and that trajectory is greater student influence. Those who reliably achieve their metrics (100% cohort achievement of weekly app goals, satisfaction scores at 90% or above) advance into Lead Guide positions where they train other educators to execute this work more effectively. Students remain the priority.

The campus is located in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If your motivation to leave your current position is the mission — transforming what a child believes about their own potential — rather than the credential on your CV, submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops with K-8 students on topics including public speaking, concentration, and how to give and receive feedback
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify students have authentically acquired the skill, not simply attended the session
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions using student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to ensure 100% of your cohort achieves their weekly app progression goals
  • Utilizing storytelling, incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and individual relationships to overcome student reluctance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction scores to maintain a 90%+ benchmark on student surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Presenting lectures at a whiteboard. Students progress academically via self-directed AI-powered apps, not through your direct instruction.
  • Supervising without engagement. Children using computers describes the environment; active coaching defines the role.
  • Reducing standards when students resist. Test2Pass requirements remain firm, even when a student is experiencing a difficult week.
  • Creating curriculum independently. Lesson plans and workshop frameworks are supplied; your responsibility is to execute them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures students genuinely internalize the content.
  • Handling parent relations, conducting admissions processes, or supervising campus logistics. Those functions belong to a separate position.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that maintain 90%+ satisfaction scores.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • At least 3 years of experience working directly with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Compelling storytelling and facilitation presence — able to hold a room of children engaged for an hour
  • Willing to work on-site at the Alpha campus in Brownsville, TX
  • Legal right to work in the US without visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program facilitator
  • Track record of high performance in a competitive environment (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Experience working in a self-directed or app-based learning environment
