Director of Member Relations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Most enrollment positions focus on increasing numbers. This position exists to uphold quality.

Alpha is developing one of the world's most forward-thinking school models. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and educators. Students routinely outpace national learning benchmarks, supported by measurable results. Afternoons are dedicated to deeper exploration, self-directed work, and practical competency development. The model delivers. But success depends on enrolling compatible families.

This is your role.

You will manage the complete enrollment process for a campus, beginning with initial inquiry and continuing through onboarding. This is not a fragmented responsibility. You determine how families perceive us, how thoroughly they grasp the model, and whether enrollment choices reflect genuine alignment. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and advise against enrollment when appropriate. The objective is not filling seats. The objective is ensuring fit.

We welcome applicants from premium client service backgrounds outside conventional education: independent schools, competitive admissions programs, upscale hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership communities, or entrepreneurs who have personally directed high-stakes client experiences from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a sophisticated, multi-phase process with discernment, transparency, and accountability.

If your career has centered on exceptional service delivery where trust, confidentiality, and experience excellence define the brand, this role will resonate, simply channeled toward work that produces measurable impact.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-campus position. We are currently hiring in La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, South Bay. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Managing the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial outreach through onboarding completion.
  • Facilitating discovery conversations to assess compatibility before offering recommendations or advancing to subsequent stages.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family relationships across various enrollment phases, with organized tracking of progress and follow-up obligations.
  • Guiding campus visits, student observation days, and enrollment dialogues that transparently convey results, standards, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Keeping precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, priority management, and service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional or aggressive enrollment strategies.
  • Accepting families who do not align with the model simply to meet targets.
  • Overseeing large teams or navigating complex organizational hierarchies.
  • Distributing family relationship ownership across multiple staff members.
  • Working from home. This is an on-site role by necessity.

Key responsibilities

Direct and deliver a trust-centered, selectivity-focused enrollment process that secures aligned families while safeguarding the credibility and effectiveness of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly shapes brand perception (education, upscale hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership organizations, or independently operated client services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment process from initial engagement through onboarding.
  • Experience managing 20+ concurrent client, guest, or family accounts at varying stages, supported by a reliable tracking and prioritization framework.
  • Ability to cite specific instances of consultative guidance, including occasions when you advised against your own offering due to misalignment.
  • Professional writing experience with senior leaders, affluent clients, or discerning audiences.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: La Jolla, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; or South Bay, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in competitive independent school admissions or selective program recruitment.
  • Background in upscale hospitality, VIP client relations, or executive-level coordination.
  • Experience designing or improving enrollment workflows, operating procedures, or service benchmarks.
  • Facility with data and CRM analytics to enhance alignment quality, not merely throughput.
