Director of Member Relations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Most enrollment positions are designed to drive numbers. This one is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is developing one of the most rigorous school models globally. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enhanced instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and faculty. Students routinely outpace national learning benchmarks, supported by measurable evidence. Afternoons are structured for deeper learning, autonomy, and practical skill development. The model is effective. But its success depends on enrolling the right families.

This is your mandate.

You will direct the complete enrollment process for a campus, beginning with initial inquiry and concluding with onboarding. This role does not involve delegation. You determine how families perceive us, how accurately they grasp the model, and whether their enrollment decisions reflect genuine alignment. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed dialogue, and advise against enrollment when appropriate. The objective is not to maximize numbers. The objective is to ensure fit.

We welcome candidates from high-caliber service backgrounds outside conventional education: independent schools, competitive programs, luxury hospitality, executive concierge services, exclusive membership organizations, or business owners who have directly overseen premium client relationships from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a detailed, multi-phase engagement with discernment, precision, and accountability.

If your career has centered on delivering exceptional service where trust, confidentiality, and client experience define brand value, this role will resonate—only now applied to work that drives meaningful outcomes.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position. We are currently hiring in La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, South Bay. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Directing the entire enrollment experience for prospective families, spanning initial outreach to final onboarding.
  • Facilitating discovery conversations to assess compatibility before proposing pathways or next actions.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across varied enrollment stages, maintaining full transparency on progress and required follow-up.
  • Orchestrating campus visits, student shadow days, and enrollment dialogues that articulate outcomes, responsibilities, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Keeping CRM and enrollment databases current (HubSpot and SIS) to enable accurate forecasting, strategic prioritization, and service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Applying transactional or aggressive conversion strategies.
  • Accepting families who lack alignment purely to satisfy enrollment targets.
  • Supervising large teams or navigating multi-layered decision hierarchies.
  • Distributing family relationship ownership across multiple staff members.
  • Operating remotely. This position requires campus presence.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a high-integrity, high-selectivity enrollment process that attracts aligned families while safeguarding the operational excellence and academic standards of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing exceptional, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly shapes brand perception (education, luxury hospitality, executive assistance, premium memberships, or owner-managed businesses).
  • Proven responsibility for managing a complete client, admissions, or enrollment lifecycle from initial engagement to successful onboarding.
  • Track record of concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family accounts across multiple progression stages, supported by an effective tracking methodology.
  • Capacity to present specific instances of advisory decision-making, including occasions when you counseled against proceeding when alignment was absent.
  • Professional correspondence experience with C-suite leaders, high-net-worth clients, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Ability to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these regions: La Jolla, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; or South Bay, CA.
  • Work authorization in the United States without need for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in selective independent school admissions or competitive program recruitment.
  • Professional history in luxury hospitality, VIP client services, or executive support functions.
  • Experience designing or optimizing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service protocols.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment quality rather than merely velocity.
