Director of Member Relations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Most enrollment positions prioritize throughput. This position prioritizes alignment.

Alpha is developing a school model of exceptional ambition. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and faculty. Students advance at rates exceeding national benchmarks, with outcomes validated by data. Afternoons are structured for depth, autonomy, and applied skill development. The model delivers results. But success depends entirely on enrolling the right families. That responsibility falls to you.

You will manage the complete admissions process for a campus—from initial application to final enrollment. This is not a coordination role. You own how families perceive us, how thoroughly they understand our approach, and whether enrollment choices reflect genuine fit. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed dialogue, and decline candidacies when appropriate. The objective is not volume maximization. The objective is mutual alignment.

We welcome candidates from premium client-facing environments outside conventional education: selective independent schools, competitive programs, high-end hospitality, executive services, premium membership entities, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly overseen high-value client experiences from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a sophisticated, staged engagement with discernment, transparency, and accountability. If your career has centered on delivering exceptional service where credibility, confidentiality, and experience define brand equity, this position will resonate. Apply now to apply that caliber to meaningful work.

What you will be doing

  • Managing the entire enrollment pathway for prospective families, from initial inquiry through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating diagnostic conversations to evaluate compatibility before proposing options or advising on next actions.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across varying enrollment phases, with transparent tracking and timely follow-through.
  • Guiding campus visits, student shadow days, and enrollment discussions that articulate results, requirements, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Ensuring precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional or aggressive sales methods.
  • Accepting families with poor alignment in order to meet enrollment targets.
  • Supervising a sizable team or working through complex approval hierarchies.
  • Distributing family experience ownership across multiple functions.
  • Operating remotely. This role requires on-campus presence.

Key responsibilities

Own and deliver a high-integrity, selectively admissions process that enrolls families aligned with Alpha's standards while safeguarding the model's credibility and academic performance.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where quality directly shapes brand standing (education, high-end hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership organizations, or entrepreneurial service operations).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment cycle from initial engagement to onboarding completion.
  • Experience managing 20+ client, guest, or family accounts concurrently across multiple stages, using a reliable tracking and prioritization framework.
  • Capacity to offer specific instances of consultative judgment, including advising clients away from your offering when fit was lacking.
  • Professional correspondence experience with C-level executives, affluent individuals, or discerning clientele.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these areas: Malibu, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in selective independent school admissions or enrollment for competitive programs.
  • Background in premium hospitality, VIP client services, or executive support functions.
  • Experience designing or improving enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service frameworks.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment quality, not merely velocity.
