Description

The SaaS industry harbors an inconvenient truth: operations typically don't scale efficiently. A conventional VP of SaaS Ops oversees 1-3 products with headcount scaling linearly—more products require proportionally larger teams. Trilogy is demonstrating a different model. We acquire one SaaS company monthly and run 47+ products (expanding toward 100+) with sublinear team expansion, demonstrating that operations can scale via 80-90% automation rather than headcount multiplication.

This goes beyond routine operations maintenance. You'll perform the operational execution that supports 12 acquisitions annually. This is not a corporate IT or infrastructure oversight position. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who has constructed and owned SaaS Ops at a SaaS company, not merely participated on the team. The optimal candidate combines technical expertise with leadership capability, someone who excels at architecting scalable operational structures, embedding automation, and navigating high-stakes operational choices. You'll own responsibility for establishing the trajectory of SaaS Ops across a varied portfolio of SaaS businesses, guaranteeing smooth product integrations, and deploying AI to build an automated, highly efficient operations engine.

You'll collaborate with world-class peers spanning Engineering, Product, and C-Suite leadership to form and deliver this vision. If you hold firm convictions about how SaaS Ops should function, relish the challenge of refining multi-product environments, and find excitement in pioneering AI-driven operations, this role is designed for you.

What you will be doing

  • Onboard newly acquired SaaS products into standardized Ops framework: establish infrastructure-as-code, integrate observability stack, specify SLOs, apply cost tagging, and produce runbooks.
  • Examine AWS cost fluctuations at the product level, trace to root cause (change request, workload variation, pricing adjustment, waste), record in Cost Change Registry.
  • Transform deterministic L2 operational runbooks into automated workflows (Python/Go/IaC/AI-assisted).
  • Track uptime, MTTR, MTTD relative to SLOs per product; escalate violations with incident analysis and corrective action plan.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Supervising the manual toil and monotony of conventional SaaS Ops; your emphasis will be on automation and AI-driven innovation
  • Running operations for a single product; you'll be commanding complexity across hundreds of products in our SaaS portfolio
  • Accepting the status quo; you'll be anticipated to disrupt and reinvent operations utilizing AI technologies

Key responsibilities

  • Own a highly efficient, AI-powered SaaS Ops function that delivers exceptional reliability, cost optimization, and seamless operations for an expanding portfolio of acquired SaaS businesses

Candidate requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience managing and owning SaaS Ops supporting enterprise customers
  • Experience maintaining personal accountability for MTTR/MTTD and incident response
  • Experience owning AWS budget targets for at least one SaaS product or portfolio
  • Experience deploying AI and automation technologies to SaaS operations (i.e., you've implemented at least one AI-assisted operational workflow - AIOps, predictive alerting, automated remediation, cost optimization ML - that reduced manual operational work)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with Terraform/CloudFormation including state management and CI/CD integration
  • AWS platform expertise across EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, VPC, IAM, cost structure, and multi-AZ reliability patterns
  • Scripting and automation proficiency in Python/Go/Bash with error handling, retry logic, comprehensive logging, and AWS SDK integration
