Description

There's an unspoken truth in the SaaS world: operational scalability remains elusive. A conventional VP of SaaS Operations typically oversees 1-3 products, with team size growing in lockstep with product count. Trilogy is demonstrating a fundamentally different approach. Acquiring one SaaS company monthly, we now operate 47+ products—scaling toward 100+—while maintaining sublinear headcount expansion through 80-90% automation rather than proportional hiring.

This position transcends routine operational maintenance. You'll drive the operational execution that supports 12 annual acquisitions. This is neither a corporate IT position nor an infrastructure oversight role. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who has personally built and owned SaaS Operations at a SaaS organization—not merely contributed as a team member. The ideal candidate combines technical mastery with leadership capability, thriving on architecting scalable operational systems, embedding automation, and navigating high-impact operational decisions. You'll define the evolution of SaaS Operations across a varied portfolio of SaaS enterprises, guaranteeing frictionless product integration and leveraging AI to construct an automated, exceptionally efficient operations engine.

You'll collaborate with elite peers spanning Engineering, Product, and Executive leadership to architect and implement this vision. If you hold strong convictions about how SaaS Operations should function, relish the complexity of optimizing multi-product ecosystems, and are energized by pioneering AI-enabled operations, this role is your opportunity.

What you will be doing

  • Integrate newly acquired SaaS products into standardized operational framework: provision infrastructure-as-code, deploy observability stack, establish SLOs, apply cost tagging, and generate runbooks.
  • Investigate AWS cost fluctuations at the product level, trace to underlying cause (change request, workload shift, pricing adjustment, inefficiency), record in Cost Change Registry.
  • Transform deterministic L2 operational runbooks into automated workflows (Python/Go/IaC/AI-assisted).
  • Track uptime, MTTR, MTTD relative to per-product SLOs; escalate violations with incident analysis and remediation plan.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Supervising the repetitive manual labor of conventional SaaS Operations; your emphasis will be automation and AI-powered innovation
  • Operating a single product; you'll be orchestrating complexity across hundreds of products within our SaaS portfolio
  • Accepting existing practices; you'll be charged with disrupting and reimagining operations through AI technologies

Key responsibilities

  • Own a highly efficient, AI-enabled SaaS Operations function delivering outstanding reliability, cost optimization, and frictionless operations for an expanding portfolio of acquired SaaS businesses

Candidate requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience managing and owning SaaS Ops supporting enterprise customers
  • Experience holding personal accountability for MTTR/MTTD and incident response
  • Experience owning AWS budget targets for at least one SaaS product or portfolio
  • Experience applying AI and automation technologies to SaaS operations (i.e., you've implemented at least one AI-assisted operational workflow - AIOps, predictive alerting, automated remediation, cost optimization ML - that reduced manual operational work)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with Terraform/CloudFormation including state management and CI/CD integration
  • AWS platform expertise across EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, VPC, IAM, cost structure, and multi-AZ reliability patterns
  • Scripting and automation proficiency in Python/Go/Bash with error handling, retry logic, comprehensive logging, and AWS SDK integration
