Director of Investment Finance   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You didn't build your expertise in PE, IB, or Big 4 M&A just to police spreadsheets and approve presentation decks.

Your role is to design, challenge, and accelerate — transforming ambiguous strategy into rigorous execution frameworks, not multi-year projections that gather dust. You've honed the discipline of financial modeling in high-pressure environments. Now you're ready to apply that expertise where it informs real operating decisions, not only deal books. This is that opportunity.

Trilogy seeks a finance strategist with operational instincts and dealmaker precision: someone who excels in uncertainty, takes ownership of results, and uses AI as a force multiplier. You'll collaborate directly with founders and senior leaders to define the trajectory of SaaS or education businesses, designing the financial infrastructure and investment logic that enable intelligent scaling, not unnecessary expansion.

If your ideal workweek involves dissecting a flawed business case, reconstructing it with phased milestones and performance guardrails, and delivering analysis that shifts executive priorities, this role will suit you.

You won't be overseeing large departments. You won't be enforcing budget cycles. You won't be waiting years to see results. You'll be driving strategy with velocity, discipline, and AI-augmented rigor, and your contributions will alter the course of ventures with meaningful impact.

What you will be doing

  • Constructing and maintaining 3-statement models with transparent drivers, integrated ERP data, and AI-powered scenario analysis.
  • Delivering comprehensive investment packages — models, sensitivity frameworks, and board-ready documentation — within 72 hours.
  • Stress-testing CAC, retention, pricing, utilization, and related metrics to generate insight and identify critical assumptions.
  • Transforming weak business plans into structured, trackable execution roadmaps with performance guardrails.
  • Managing and optimizing live financial systems that enable real-time decision-making across SaaS and education portfolios.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing month-end close, audit processes, or compliance workflows — this is not a controller or FP&A management position.
  • Leading large teams or providing career development — you influence through deliverables, not organizational size.
  • Producing presentations that go unread — every insight must be supported by robust models, validated assumptions, and actionable direction.
  • Working at a measured pace — this is a fast-moving, AI-native, complexity-driven environment by intention.
  • Waiting for approval to challenge convention — your mandate is to scrutinize strategy and refine it with speed and precision.

Key responsibilities

Design and operate an AI-enabled financial infrastructure that supports high-impact investment decisions, scalable expansion, and operational clarity across rapidly growing SaaS and education businesses.

Candidate requirements

  • 5+ years in PE, IB, or Big 4 M&A/Corporate Finance (excluding audit/tax), with hands-on experience in deal modeling, client/board engagement, and investment evaluation.
  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, CFA, CIMA, or MBA, with comprehensive understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and integrated financial statement construction.
  • Proven experience with enterprise-level ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
  • Demonstrated application of AI to enhance modeling, scenario analysis, research, memo creation, and process automation.
  • History of delivering models and executive-level recommendations with speed, refinement, and strategic insight.
  • Based in UTC-8 to UTC+3 time zones.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with SaaS or EdTech operating models.
  • Experience building financial systems, not only working within existing frameworks.
  • Background in dynamic, founder-driven settings with shifting priorities and direct communication cultures.
