Portfolio Finance Director   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You didn't spend years in PE, IB, or Big 4 M&A just to rubber-stamp budgets and polish slide decks.

You're here to design, challenge, and propel—transforming ambiguous strategy into rock-solid execution frameworks, not multi-year projections that gather dust. You've honed the discipline of financial modeling in high-pressure settings. Now you want to apply that expertise where it directly influences real operating decisions, not merely pitch books. This is that opportunity.

Trilogy seeks a finance strategist with operational instincts and deal-making precision: someone who excels in uncertainty, takes ownership of results, and uses AI as an extension of their thinking. You'll collaborate directly with founders and senior leaders to define the trajectory of SaaS or education businesses, creating the financial infrastructure and investment logic that enable smart scaling, not unnecessary expansion.

If your ideal workweek involves dissecting a weak business case, reconstructing it with phased milestones and KPI checkpoints, and delivering a memo that compels the leadership team to rethink their approach, this role will suit you.

You won't be overseeing 30-person departments. You won't be enforcing budget compliance. You won't be waiting ten years to see results. You'll be influencing strategy with velocity, discipline, and AI-augmented precision—and your contributions will redirect the course of ventures that are reshaping industries.

What you will be doing

  • Constructing and maintaining 3-statement models with explicit assumptions, integrated ERP data, and AI-powered scenario analysis.
  • Delivering complete investment packages—models, sensitivity frameworks, and board-ready documentation—within 72 hours.
  • Stress-testing CAC, retention, pricing, utilization, and other key levers to expose critical assumptions and drive decision clarity.
  • Transforming fragile business plans into phased, trackable execution roadmaps with embedded KPI safeguards.
  • Managing and continuously improving live financial systems that support real-time decision-making across SaaS and education portfolios.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Handling month-end close, audit filings, or compliance workflows—this is not a controller or FP&A management position.
  • Building or supervising large teams—you influence through deliverables, not org charts.
  • Producing presentations that never lead to action—every proposal must be grounded in rigorous models, validated assumptions, and a clear decision path.
  • Working at a steady, predictable pace—this is intentionally a fast-moving, AI-native, high-ambiguity setting.
  • Waiting for approval to challenge assumptions—you're expected to interrogate strategy and sharpen it proactively.

Key responsibilities

Design and operate an AI-enabled financial infrastructure that underpins high-stakes investment choices, scalable expansion, and execution precision across rapidly growing SaaS and education businesses.

Candidate requirements

  • 5+ years in PE, IB, or Big 4 M&A/Corporate Finance (excluding audit/tax), with hands-on experience in deal modeling, stakeholder engagement, and investment analysis.
  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, CFA, CIMA, or MBA, with comprehensive understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and integrated financial reporting.
  • Prior work with enterprise-grade ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
  • Proven application of AI to enhance modeling, scenario development, research, memo creation, and process automation.
  • History of delivering models and executive-level recommendations with speed, quality, and strategic insight.
  • Based within UTC-8 to UTC+3 time zones.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with SaaS or EdTech operating models.
  • Background in building financial systems from the ground up, not just working within existing structures.
  • Prior work in fluid, founder-driven settings with shifting priorities and direct communication norms.
