AI Product Director   $400,000 USD/year

Description

We are seeking a product leader to drive our Education vertical and take ownership of a mission-critical outcome: enabling students to learn with greater effectiveness. This is a role centered on systemic transformation rather than incremental product iteration.

You will own a strategic objective, not a process. Your mandate is to define the goal for our Education vertical and execute against it with full authority. You will personally write the master "Brain Lift" document that encodes our strategy and establishes a unified portfolio roadmap across all educational products. Leading a team of talented Product Owners, you will function as a player-coach, staying deeply involved in the most important strategic work.

Traditional education models apply a uniform approach that does not address individual student needs. We are building a new paradigm grounded in learning science and AI, designed to deliver instruction that is genuinely personalized. Our work demonstrates that education can be both highly individualized and profoundly effective.

This position differs from a conventional VP of Product role. If you are more comfortable managing process than owning outcomes, or if you intend to delegate foundational strategic thinking, this role will not be a good match. We need a leader who is deeply analytical, operates from first principles, and is uncompromising in pursuit of the defined objective.

You will guide a high-caliber team of product owners and collaborate directly with the founders to direct the vertical. Success will be measured in one way: demonstrable, data-driven evidence that your strategy has improved student learning outcomes. If this level of scope and accountability appeals to you, we should speak.

What you will be doing

  • Architecting Domain Knowledge: You will own and refine the master "Education Domain BrainLift," synthesizing insights from the team and the market into a unified strategy that drives alignment on all major product decisions across the vertical.
  • Defining the Portfolio Roadmap: Transform the Domain BrainLift into a results-oriented roadmap for the entire product portfolio. You will determine the sequence of initiatives that generates compounding impact and articulate the strategic rationale guiding your team's work.
  • Operating as a Player-Coach: Lead by example through your own OODA loops on high-stakes outcomes, while coaching your team by critiquing their iterations and refining their thinking to ensure cohesive execution across the portfolio.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning solely as a people manager. Your core responsibility is to direct the vertical's strategy and model execution excellence, not simply manage team size, budgets, and administrative processes.
  • Implementing a strategy developed elsewhere. You are responsible for authoring the comprehensive, overarching strategy for the vertical yourself, integrating insights from across the organization.
  • Producing fixed, multi-year roadmaps. The portfolio roadmap is dynamic. You will adjust direction continuously based on the learnings your team and you generate each week through iterative cycles.
  • Running a "feature factory." Success is measured by the strategic outcome you deliver for the vertical. This demands genuine integration and synergy across products, not merely increasing feature output in isolated streams.

Candidate requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years in a product leadership position where you directly defined the product vision and owned the fundamental problem-solution hypothesis
  • Experience launching at least one successful product (not merely a feature or module) that served real users (not internal tooling) from inception (not joining mid-development) through to launch (generating at least $1 million in revenue)
  • Demonstrated professional use of AI in your everyday work (such as research, analysis, synthesis, or strategy development)
