Director of AI Product Management   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Are you a product leader prepared to leverage AI to reshape the fundamentals of education? We are seeking someone to direct our Education vertical and assume ownership of the mission to enhance student learning outcomes. This position centers on catalyzing systemic transformation, not simply iterating on existing features.

This position is characterized by accountability for a strategic outcome rather than process oversight. You will define the objective for our Education vertical and possess the authority to accomplish it. You will personally compose the master "Brain Lift" that captures our strategic vision and establishes the portfolio roadmap unifying all educational products into a coherent whole. You'll guide a team of exceptional Product Owners, functioning as a player-coach who stays immersed in the most pivotal work.

The conventional one-size-fits-all education paradigm inadequately addresses individual student needs. Our methodology builds a new system grounded in learning science and AI to provide genuinely individualized instruction. We are demonstrating that education can be simultaneously deeply personal and profoundly effective.

This position differs fundamentally from a standard VP of Product role. If you favor process management over outcome ownership, or prefer to delegate fundamental strategic responsibilities, this opportunity is not appropriate. We seek a leader who is rigorously analytical, a disciplined first-principles thinker, and uncompromising in pursuing the defined objective.

You will direct a talented team of product owners and collaborate directly with the founders to guide the entire vertical. Your success metric is straightforward: demonstrable, data-supported evidence that your strategy meaningfully enhanced student learning outcomes. If you are prepared for a challenge of this magnitude and accountability, we should connect.

What you will be doing

  • Architecting the Domain Knowledge: Own and advance the master "Education Domain BrainLift," synthesizing market and team insights into one unified strategy that aligns the vertical on critical product decisions.
  • Driving the Portfolio Roadmap: Convert the Domain BrainLift into an outcome-focused roadmap spanning the complete product portfolio. You will determine the work sequence that generates compounding value and supply the strategic rationale guiding your team's execution.
  • Player-Coach Execution: Operate as a player-coach: execute your own OODA loops on critical outcomes to establish the execution standard, while coaching your team through reviewing their iterations and refining their insights for unified portfolio delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning solely as a people manager. Your core responsibility is leading the vertical's strategic direction and establishing the execution standard, not simply administering headcount, budgets, and operational processes.
  • Implementing a top-down strategy developed by others. You are expected to personally craft the unified, comprehensive strategy for the entire vertical, synthesizing insights from the ground level upward.
  • Producing static, long-range roadmaps. Your portfolio roadmap is dynamic. You will navigate the portfolio with agility, informed by weekly insights from your team's iterations and your own direct work.
  • Managing a "feature factory." Your success is measured by accomplishing the strategic outcome for the vertical. This demands genuine cross-product integration, not merely increasing feature output in isolation.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in a product leadership role where you personally shaped the product vision and owned the core problem-solution hypothesis
  • Previous experience launching at least one successful product (not just a feature or a module) that reached real users (not internal tools) from scratch (not joining partway through the development process) to launch (achieving at least $1 million in revenue)
  • Professional experience using AI in your daily work (e.g., research, analysis, synthesis, strategy)
