Vice President of Product   $400,000 USD/year

Description

We are seeking a product leader to drive transformation in the Education vertical by leveraging AI to fundamentally change how students learn. This is a role centered on achieving strategic outcomes, not on incremental feature delivery or process oversight.

Your mandate will be to define and own a strategic objective for the Education vertical, then execute against it with full empowerment. You will craft the definitive "Brain Lift" document that encapsulates our strategy and establishes a unified portfolio roadmap across all educational products. Leading a team of skilled Product Owners, you will function as a player-coach, staying deeply involved in the most consequential initiatives.

Traditional education relies on standardized approaches that inadequately address individual student needs. Our solution builds a new educational system grounded in learning science and AI, delivering instruction that is genuinely individualized. We are demonstrating that education can achieve both personal relevance and measurable impact.

This position diverges significantly from conventional VP of Product roles. If your preference is to manage processes rather than own outcomes, or if you seek to delegate fundamental strategic work, this opportunity will not align with your goals. We need a leader who demonstrates deep analytical rigor, applies first-principles reasoning, and pursues objectives with unwavering focus.

You will guide a high-caliber team of product owners and collaborate directly with the founders to direct the vertical's trajectory. Success will be measured straightforwardly: demonstrable, data-supported evidence that your strategy produced measurable improvements in student learning outcomes. If you are prepared for this level of challenge and accountability, we should speak.

What you will be doing

  • Architecting Domain Knowledge: Take ownership of the master "Education Domain BrainLift," continuously refining it by synthesizing insights from your team and the market into one unified strategic framework that guides all major product decisions across the vertical.
  • Directing the Portfolio Roadmap: Convert the Domain BrainLift into a results-oriented roadmap that encompasses the entire product portfolio. You will determine the prioritization and sequencing of initiatives that generate compounding impact, providing the strategic rationale that shapes your team's execution.
  • Player-Coach Leadership: Operate as a player-coach by personally running OODA loops on the most critical outcomes to establish the execution standard, while coaching your team through review of their iterations and refinement of their insights to ensure coherent portfolio-wide execution.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Serving as a traditional people manager. Your core responsibility is to lead vertical strategy and define the execution standard, not to oversee headcount allocation, budget administration, or process management.
  • Implementing a pre-determined strategy. You are accountable for personally authoring the comprehensive, unified strategy for the entire vertical by synthesizing insights from the ground level upward.
  • Developing fixed, multi-year roadmaps. The portfolio roadmap you manage is dynamic and adaptive. You will guide the portfolio with agility, incorporating continuous learning from your team's weekly iterations as well as your own.
  • Running a "feature factory." Success is measured by achieving the vertical's strategic outcome. This demands fostering genuine integration and synergy across products, not merely increasing feature output within isolated silos.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in a product leadership role where you personally shaped the product vision and owned the core problem-solution hypothesis
  • Previous experience launching at least one successful product (not just a feature or a module) that reached real users (not internal tools) from scratch (not joining partway through the development process) to launch (achieving at least $1 million in revenue)
  • Professional experience using AI in your daily work (e.g., research, analysis, synthesis, strategy)
