Technical Lead   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Software delivery remains mired in inefficiency. Backlogs expand unchecked, cycle times stretch into weeks, and "code review" frequently devolves into a formality designed to meet sprint deadlines. Most organizations struggle with integration risk, fragile architectures, and ambiguous requirements. At the same time, AI coding agents are producing viable code—but only when provided with precise specifications and subjected to rigorous supervision. The industry continues to add more developers to keyboards rather than addressing the underlying system that transforms intent into dependable, production-ready software.

Trilogy has chosen a different approach. We operate an agentic development workflow from end to end: engineers lead research, specification, architecture, and quality control, while AI agents execute implementation. Specifications are crafted to be executable by Claude Code, following test-first principles and scoped surgically to limit blast radius. The outcome is continuous delivery of production features with significantly tighter feedback cycles, reduced integration surprises, and elevated confidence in correctness before any code reaches main.

This position is designed for the engineer who prefers designing systems and verifying correctness over grinding through tickets. You will allocate approximately 10–20% of your time to research and technical discovery—understanding existing behavior, constraints, and stakeholder requirements; 40–50% translating that understanding into precise, test-driven, agent-executable specifications and architectural choices; and 40–50% orchestrating and supervising implementation. You own what ships: no silent failures, no vague specs, no deflecting accountability to "the agent."

You will join a team that regards specification as a product, review as an engineering discipline, and delivery as the singular KPI that matters. If you are motivated by elegant system design, surgical scoping, and rigorous validation—and you already incorporate tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or ChatGPT into your daily workflow—you will excel here. Bring your architectural expertise, your TDD discipline, and your uncompromising standards for code quality. If this resonates with you, step forward and lead the future of how software is built. Apply and demonstrate how you orchestrate agents to deliver production-grade outcomes at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Technical Discovery: Examining existing systems, stakeholder requirements, and data sets to comprehend the problem domain and technical constraints
  • Technical Specification: Translating research findings and stakeholder requirements into precise, executable technical specifications tailored for agentic coding assistants (primarily Claude Code) using spec-driven development methodology
  • AI Implementation: Directing AI coding agents to implement specifications, performing continuous review and validation of agent-generated code, and merging validated changes into the production codebase

Key responsibilities

  • Continuous delivery of production-grade software features and systems through agentic development workflows, where AI coding agents execute implementation while engineers direct specification, architecture, and quality assurance

Candidate requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years professional software engineering experience in production environments
  • Experience participating in pull request review processes
  • Experience using AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Windsurf, Cursor) in a professional setting
