Technical Lead   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most software delivery remains trapped in outdated patterns. Backlogs balloon, cycle times stretch into weeks, and code review often devolves into perfunctory sign-offs to meet sprint deadlines. Teams struggle under the weight of integration risk, fragile architectures, and vague requirements. AI coding agents now produce viable code, but only when given exact specifications and rigorous oversight. The standard response continues to be adding more engineers to keyboards rather than repairing the fundamental process that transforms intention into dependable, production-ready software.

Trilogy has chosen a different approach. We operate a fully agentic development pipeline: engineers own research, specification, architecture, and quality control, while AI agents execute implementation. Specifications are crafted to be directly executable by Claude Code, test-first in design and narrowly scoped to contain risk. The outcome is continuous deployment of production features with significantly shorter feedback cycles, reduced integration surprises, and greater confidence in correctness before code reaches the main branch.

This position is designed for the engineer who prioritizes system design and correctness verification over ticket throughput. You will allocate approximately 10–20% of your time to research and technical discovery—mapping existing behavior, constraints, and stakeholder expectations; 40–50% translating that knowledge into precise, test-driven, agent-consumable specifications and architectural choices; and 40–50% directing and supervising implementation. You own what gets deployed: no silent breakages, no vague specifications, no deflecting accountability to the agent.

You will join a team that regards specification as a deliverable product, review as an engineering practice, and delivery as the definitive performance metric. If you are motivated by clean system design, precise scoping, and rigorous validation—and you already integrate tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or ChatGPT into your daily routine—this environment will suit you. Bring your architectural expertise, your test-driven development discipline, and your uncompromising standards for code quality. If this resonates, step forward and shape the future of software construction. Apply and demonstrate how you coordinate agents to produce production-ready results at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Technical Discovery: Examining existing systems, stakeholder requirements, and data sources to map the problem domain and identify technical constraints
  • Technical Specification: Transforming research outcomes and stakeholder needs into precise, executable technical specifications tailored for agentic coding assistants (primarily Claude Code) following spec-driven development practices
  • AI Implementation: Directing AI coding agents through implementation, continuously reviewing and validating agent-generated code, and merging approved changes into the production codebase

Key responsibilities

  • Continuous delivery of production-quality software features and systems through agentic development workflows, in which AI coding agents perform implementation while engineers lead specification, architecture, and quality assurance

Candidate requirements

  • At least 3 years professional software engineering experience in production environments
  • Experience participating in pull request review processes
  • Experience using AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Windsurf, Cursor) in a professional setting
