AI Product Director   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Are you a product leader prepared to leverage AI in reshaping the education landscape? We need someone to take charge of our Education vertical and champion the goal of making student learning more effective. This position centers on catalyzing systemic transformation, not merely iterating on existing features.

This position is characterized by ownership of a strategic outcome rather than process administration. Your responsibility will be to establish an objective for our Education vertical and have the authority to deliver on it. You will personally craft the master "Brain Lift" that encodes our strategy and shapes the portfolio roadmap unifying all our educational products. Leading a team of talented Product Owners, you'll function as a player-coach who stays immersed in the most pivotal work.

The conventional one-size-fits-all education framework doesn't meet individual student needs. Our methodology involves constructing a new system grounded in learning science and AI to provide genuinely individualized instruction. We are demonstrating that education can be simultaneously deeply personal and powerfully effective.

This position differs from a conventional VP of Product role. If your preference is to manage process rather than own outcomes, or if you wish to offload core strategic responsibilities, this isn't the appropriate match. We seek a leader who is profoundly analytical, a rigorous first-principles thinker, and unwavering in pursuing the defined objective.

You will guide a talented team of product owners and collaborate directly with the founders to direct the entire vertical. Your success metric is straightforward: demonstrable, data-supported evidence that your strategy measurably enhanced student learning outcomes. If you're prepared for accountability and challenge at this scale, we should connect.

What you will be doing

  • Architecting Domain Knowledge: Take ownership of and advance the master "Education Domain BrainLift," consolidating team insights and market intelligence into one unified strategy that drives alignment across the vertical on crucial product choices.
  • Steering the Portfolio Roadmap: Convert the Domain BrainLift into an outcome-focused roadmap spanning the entire product portfolio. You will establish the work sequence that generates compounding value and supply the strategic rationale guiding your team's execution.
  • Player-Coach Leadership: Operate as a player-coach: run your own OODA loops on mission-critical outcomes to establish the execution standard, while coaching your team through reviewing their iterations and refining their insights to ensure cohesive portfolio delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning as a traditional people manager. Your core responsibility is to direct the vertical's strategy and establish execution standards, not simply oversee headcount, budgets, and operational processes.
  • Implementing a pre-defined top-down strategy. You are expected to personally develop the unified, comprehensive strategy for the entire vertical, building insights from the ground level upward.
  • Producing static, long-horizon roadmaps. Your portfolio roadmap remains a dynamic document. You will navigate the portfolio with flexibility, incorporating weekly insights from your team's iterations and your own work.
  • Managing a "feature factory." Your success hinges on delivering the strategic outcome for the vertical. This demands fostering genuine cross-product integration, not merely increasing feature output in isolated streams.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in a product leadership role where you personally shaped the product vision and owned the core problem-solution hypothesis
  • Previous experience launching at least one successful product (not just a feature or a module) that reached real users (not internal tools) from scratch (not joining partway through the development process) to launch (achieving at least $1 million in revenue)
  • Professional experience using AI in your daily work (e.g., research, analysis, synthesis, strategy)
