Associate   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Located on-site at Alpha School's Brownsville, TX campus
  • W2 compensation of $100,000 annually, with weekly pay and health benefits starting day one
  • Relocation assistance available for candidates committing to a full school year on campus

You've dedicated years to coaching young people — not merely teaching them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting, pushing boundaries, and refusing to accept anything less than a student's full potential. Teaching means delivering information. You've never operated as an information delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates the most unconventional educational model you'll encounter. Students don't sit in traditional rows listening to lectures. They progress through AI-driven learning applications at individualized paces. The AI manages instructional delivery. Your role centers on facilitating life skills workshops that capture and hold K-8 students' attention, conducting motivation sessions that drive weekly learning target achievement, and maintaining standards when students attempt to take shortcuts. Academic progression happens automatically. You manage the human dimension.

This position offers a meaningful ceiling: expanded student impact. Educators who reliably achieve performance benchmarks (100% cohort achievement of weekly app targets, satisfaction ratings above 90%) advance into Lead Guide positions, where they mentor other educators in refining this approach. Students remain the focus.

The Brownsville campus sits adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If your motivation for leaving your current position is the mission — transforming what students believe they can achieve — rather than adding a credential to your CV, submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students on topics including public speaking, concentration techniques, and feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify students have internalized the skill, not simply attended the session
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions informed by student profiles, individual interests, and Coachbot analytics to achieve 100% cohort completion of weekly app progression targets
  • Leveraging narrative techniques, incentive structures (school currency systems, leaderboards), and individual rapport to overcome student reluctance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction metrics with a target of 90%+ on student feedback surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional lectures at a whiteboard. Academic advancement occurs through self-directed AI-powered applications, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Supervising without engagement. The environment involves students working on computers; the role demands active facilitation.
  • Compromising standards when students resist. Test2Pass requirements remain consistent regardless of individual student circumstances.
  • Creating original curriculum materials. Workshop frameworks and lesson structures are supplied; your responsibility is executing them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures genuine student comprehension.
  • Handling parent communications, admissions processes, or campus-level operations. Those functions belong to separate roles.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% weekly academic goal completion while facilitating life skills workshops that maintain 90%+ satisfaction ratings.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation skills — capable of maintaining student engagement for hour-long sessions
  • Available to work on-site at Alpha's Brownsville, TX campus
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as a sports coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator
  • Demonstrated history of excellence in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-paced or application-based learning models
