Are you frustrated by a system that prevents you from holding Houston students to the standards they need and deserve?

Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're searching for a leader who knows Houston's education landscape firsthand. You'll manage a team of 15 plus Guides whose role is to coach and inspire students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No classroom teaching. Maximum operational impact. Pure leadership responsibility.

Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys coming to school, progresses at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You'll uphold rigorous standards, base decisions on data, and establish Houston's premier school from the start.

Lead through metrics. Coach toward mastery. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Open Houston's flagship Alpha campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100 plus students from launch day, maintaining operational excellence in every function.
  • Facilitate live skill-building workshops for K through 12 students: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Follow Alpha's structured approach to ensure students develop competencies traditional schools overlook, all while keeping the experience enjoyable.
  • Drive every student to 100 percent goal completion: Construct personalized motivational frameworks for each individual. Apply data-informed strategies to address obstacles and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by universal target achievement.
  • Develop Guides through performance coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint development areas. Provide precise, actionable guidance during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Maintain accountability using logic and objective standards, not empathy that undermines expectations.
  • Lead campus through data-informed decision-making: Evaluate performance across team members, operations, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and execute measurable interventions. Monitor every initiative and refine based on outcomes.
  • Uphold excellence standards without exception: Establish and preserve Alpha's quality expectations for both students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when performance doesn't meet standards. Model the benchmark of excellence for your entire campus.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related area
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading teams of at least 15 individuals with complete hiring and termination authority
  • Comprehensive understanding of Houston or broader Texas education environment. This familiarity with local student populations, community context, and competitive school landscape is critical for Alpha's Houston launch.
  • Proven experience working with young people ages 5 through 14
  • Advanced data analysis capabilities and track record leveraging metrics to inform decisions and drive ongoing improvement
  • Commitment to education transformation. Conviction that the conventional system is fundamentally inadequate.
  • Startup orientation: performs well under pressure, flexible in evolving environments, confident creating structures from the ground up
  • Dynamic and persuasive communicator who captures attention whether addressing students or staff groups
  • Capable of connecting with K through 12 students, comprehending their interests and environment, and acting as an exemplary role model
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
