Youth Development Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

You have completed difficult challenges. You have operated within rigorous standards. You understand the distinction between effort and results. If you are ready to apply that capability in a role that shapes a young person's future, this position is designed for you.

Alpha School employs AI-powered 1:1 learning that enables students to complete core academics in approximately two hours daily. This structure allows the remainder of the day for life skills development, passion-driven projects, and meaningful growth. At our most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a dependable mentor who can assess the environment, establish expectations, and guide them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.

This is not a conventional teaching position. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. You will coach. You will facilitate structured life-skills workshops. You will interpret data to identify what limits a student's progress, then guide with intention and precision until they execute.

If you possess an elite credential and a history of elevating others' performance, we want to speak with you. Apply to help establish a campus environment where students arrive prepared, develop real competencies, and surpass challenging objectives.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitate 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that convert student objectives into reliable execution and quantifiable outcomes
  • Interpret analytics and student objectives to identify obstacles and establish ambitious, personalized motivation strategies
  • Facilitate structured life-skills workshops through credible narrative, reflection exercises, and practical application, then evaluate mastery
  • Conduct daily opening sessions that establish culture, reinforce rigorous expectations, and prepare students before work begins
  • Build trusted mentor relationships with students and families through consistent high standards, reliability, and thoughtful judgment

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver classroom instruction, lectures, or academic tutoring in a traditional capacity
  • Develop curriculum, write lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Supervise adults, oversee campus operations, or assume administrative leadership responsibilities
  • Compromise standards to achieve short-term compliance or convenient outcomes

Key responsibilities

This role ensures that students at Alpha's most rigorous campuses maintain high motivation and accomplish sustained growth and life-skill mastery through elite, high-standards coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • At least one clear elite marker (athletics, academics, career achievement, or elite coaching)
  • Experience in people-facing mentoring, coaching, or leadership that measurably raised others' performance
  • Comfort operating in high-accountability environments with clear standards and follow-through
  • Ability to lead engaging, high-rigor group sessions and coach individuals with strong judgment
  • Willingness to work full-time (40 hours/week) in person at Alpha's Austin campus
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Multiple elite markers with clear evidence of raising standards and outcomes
  • Experience using data and analytics to drive coaching plans and accountability
  • Background in selective firms, competitive startups, or elite athletics programs with intense performance expectations
