Student Success Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

You have accomplished difficult things. You understand what it means to operate within genuine standards. You recognize the distinction between effort and execution. If you are ready to apply that discipline in a setting where it reshapes a young person's path, this position is designed for you.

Alpha School leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction, allowing students to complete core academics in approximately two hours each day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, self-directed projects, and meaningful development. At our most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor capable of assessing the environment, establishing expectations, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.

This is not a conventional teaching position. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. You will coach. You will facilitate rigorous life-skills sessions. You will analyze data to identify what is limiting a student's progress, then challenge them with both care and precision until they execute.

If you carry an elite credential and a history of elevating others' performance, we want to speak with you. Apply to contribute to a campus environment where students arrive prepared, develop tangible skills, and surpass challenging objectives.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitate 1:1 and small-group coaching that converts student objectives into sustained execution and quantifiable advancement
  • Analyze performance data and student goals to identify obstacles and design ambitious, personalized motivation strategies
  • Lead high-rigor life-skills workshops grounded in authentic storytelling, structured reflection, and practical application, then evaluate mastery
  • Conduct daily opening sessions that establish culture, uphold high standards, and prepare students before work begins
  • Build trusted mentorship connections with students and families by maintaining high expectations, reliability, and strong judgment

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver traditional classroom instruction, lectures, or academic tutoring
  • Develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Supervise staff, oversee campus operations, or assume administrative leadership responsibilities
  • Compromise standards to achieve short-term compliance or superficial results

Key responsibilities

This position ensures that students at Alpha's most rigorous campuses remain deeply motivated and accomplish sustained progress and life-skill mastery through elite, high-standards coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • At least one demonstrable elite marker (athletics, academics, professional achievement, or elite-level coaching)
  • Proven experience in direct mentoring, coaching, or leadership roles that produced measurable improvements in others' performance
  • Confidence working in high-accountability settings with explicit standards and consistent follow-through
  • Capability to facilitate engaging, high-rigor group sessions and provide individual coaching with sound judgment
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) onsite at Alpha's Austin campus
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Multiple elite markers with documented evidence of elevating standards and results
  • Experience leveraging data and analytics to inform coaching strategies and accountability systems
  • History in selective organizations, high-performance startups, or elite athletics environments with rigorous performance demands
