Ever wondered what the average day looks like for someone hired through Crossover? I interviewed some of the best and brightest from Brazil about what it’s like to work remotely with us. Here’s what they said about our global company culture in action.

Across our company portfolios we’ve hired some incredible Brazilian talent over the years. I got a chance to sit down with some of them, to hear about their day-to-day lives.

This is what sets Crossover hires apart – their strong affinity with the values that make us great.

What Is the Average Day Like with Crossover?

Better Work-Life Balance

  • Go outside and see the sun whenever you like. You’ll never have to ask permission again.
  • You can plan your day however you like. If you want to go out and exercise in the middle of the workday, you can do it.

Consistent Hours

At Crossover the company culture is to only work 40 hours a day.
  • In tech people expect you to work like crazy (60 hours+), but with Crossover you only work 40 hours. No more, unless you’re granted overtime. Then they pay you for it!
  • It’s common in Brazilian culture to stay at the office for 10 hours a day. That will never happen at Crossover.
  • At the beginning there’s uncertainty about whether or not you can take breaks. But that’s nuts, of course you can! You’re human. The software that monitors you can be paused at any time. It’s just there for compliance.

Async-First Collaboration

At Crossover you can choose when you don't want to work.
  • People don’t overbook your calendar because they prefer to work asynchronously. You can work in the morning, and have the afternoon free to yourself.
  • You can go 2 weeks without having any meetings.
  • Avoid meetings by sharing recordings – it frees up more time for deep focus work.

Flexible Schedules

  • Be more productive at home because you get to decide when to do things. Setting your own schedule and executing it when you’re most productive is key to the culture here.
  • If you’re having a bad day you can make up your hours another time. Just tell your manager. Then when you’re back, do your best.
  • Crossover flexibility allows time for what matters to you. A concert on Tuesday, and being voiceless on a Wednesday for meetings isn’t an issue when you control your schedule. You can work 16 hour days to have 2 days to dedicate to other things, if that’s what you want.

High Levels of Autonomy

At Crossover you learn to manage yourself, it's highly autonomous.
  • The working model in Brazil is fixed vacation time, and that’s all you get. At Crossover you choose when you don’t want to work.
  • Most work environments require specific times to do things, daily meetings for example. Here there’s maybe 2 meetings a week. You have to learn to manage yourself.

Focused Work with Great Minds

At Crossover you can work from the comfort of your own home.
  • At previous jobs the commute took an hour there, an hour back and 9 hours working at the office. That’s 11 hours of completely unfocused work. You don’t produce that much. At Crossover, you have 8 hours, and you produce a lot of things.
  • Work with amazing people, have a global work experience and all from the comfort of your own home.
