Description

You're walking into a proven learning model that's already changing outcomes at Alpha School. LearnWithAI builds the platform behind it, expanding fast across the US and beyond. Students master their core academics in two hours a day and test in the top percentiles nationally. The model works. What it needs is someone who wakes up every day thinking about the humans inside it.


You'll define what good design looks like, set the standards, and build the function. The scope is our learning platform and its supporting learning applications, and how they serve different audiences inside and outside Alpha.
A five-year-old can't read yet and is learning to count through a system that has to make novelty feel like play. A teenager two grade levels behind is rebuilding confidence after years of failure, and one confusing interaction might send them back. A parent finally sees how their child is actually learning. That clarity eases the anxiety and makes them an effective supporter. An academic coach managing a classroom of mixed ages needs to see progress without drowning in data. You need to understand each deeply enough to make genuinely different choices for each one.


Your job is the experience layer: research each audience with real depth, codify what you learn into design principles that engineers can apply directly, and ship code-based outputs that work tomorrow, not mockups that sit in review. You partner with product leaders who own outcomes and engineers who ship code. You push back when requests hurt user experience. You own it end-to-end.


You'll use AI as your leverage to iterate faster and cover more ground, but your judgment, not the model's first pass, decides what ships. The core focus is our education platform, with occasional projects in other domains.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 5 years in product design or UX roles, with end-to-end ownership from research through shipped experience
  • Strong evidence of user empathy and research depth across audiences different from your own
  • Proven design craft in interaction and visual design, with a portfolio that shows audience-specific choices rather than generic patterns, paired with strong design opinions
  • Demonstrated AI-native workflow: fast iteration, critical judgment, and ability to push back on first-pass AI output rather than accepting the default
  • Ability to translate designs into code using AI tools and modern frameworks
  • Comfortable building a design function and culture from zero, not inheriting established processes
