What does a degree prove?

Surely, it’s evidence of how smart you are, or how well you can do your job. That must be why companies insist on certain degrees in their hiring processes.

You’d think. 🀨 But that’s not the case.

The paper ceiling exists despite the growing mountain of evidence showing that all it does is keep skilled people out of good jobs.

It’s why your application is trashed long before you get to meet a hiring manager.

It’s why πŸ‘§ Bonnie booksmart is hired over πŸ‘¨β€πŸ¦± Salvatore streetsmart.

β›” No degree. No entry.β›”

The financial implications will make your jaw hit the floor.

Practical experience has been worth less than academic knowledge for a long time. It’s become quite nonsensical, especially in a digital world where anyone can learn anything, whenever they want.

πŸ’ŸπŸŒ‰ And aside from heart surgeons or bridge architects, having a piece of paper that declares your competency is bizarre, outdated and pointless.

How many qualified linguists do you know working in real estate? Or fine art grads who have channeled creativity into becoming top chefs?
