I once had a boss who told me he needed things to be ‘more liquid’ or ‘stickier.’ It only stopped when I made everything blue. But this kind of feedback won’t float in the new world of AI. Here’s why.

Hey, Welcome Back!

Have you ever been given some absurdly unclear feedback?

Of course you have.

It’s increasingly common in the ever-expanding world of remote work. Heck, I’d be blown away if you hadn’t ever experienced the keen sting of feedback confusion.

You know the kind I’m talking about.

The kind that makes you narrow your eyes and tilt your head ever-so-slightly to the left in TOTAL confusion. Like a dog being fed broccoli on TikTok. 🥦

And that’s because the ability to give quality feedback is pretty rare.

The average office environment has been an amazing hiding place for oblivious managers spouting indistinct and ambiguous feedback, for years. 🙈

These critiques don’t really mean anything, yet somehow seem to take on unprecedented levels of importance in the moment.

“I want it to be stickier,” and “make the design more liquid,” are two I’ve experienced myself.

That’s when it struck me: Remote work makes giving feedback harder, not easier.

You have to be clear, intentional, and descriptive. The remote workers who develop this vital skill will be the highly paid leaders of tomorrow.

🤖 After all, AI can do a lot - but it can’t read between the lines.

It’s episode 40 and this week I chat about the most bankable soft skill in remote work, maybe ever. You’ll want in on this one.

📽️ This Week on Episode 40:

🤨 Step into some of the most tragic feedback fails of our time

💩 Explore the three root causes of sh*tty feedback

🚗 Find out why modern feedback is like the steering wheel of a car

🦿 Discover how feedback is being shaped by new AI technologies

🧙🏻‍♂️ Learn how to make it your soft skill superpower

In the era of AI, you can’t hide in the forbidden forest of buzzword bureaucracy. Remote feedback is a sink or swim scenario.

Superpower or superfail - you get to choose.

Join me as I revelio what lies beneath the invisibility cloak of management madness.

And remember with a bit of work, one day you’ll be the feedback wizard your team’s been waiting for. (Start now!)

What advice would you give someone who wants to improve the quality of their feedback?

🎇 Keep it remote, keep it real –

Andrew
