Can Africa become the next AI superpower?
This may sound like something out of a Marvel movie, but it’s happening. The brightest minds no longer need to travel thousands of miles to work in Silicon Valley.
📍 They can stay on home soil.
And instead, build revolutionary technologies that may see their countries catapulted into an era of unprecedented innovation.
This vision is coming to life in Zanzibar right now.
The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Madras has just set up its first offshore campus on the African island. This is the same institute that produced tech giants like Google CEO, Sundar Pichai.
Less than 1% of people who apply there are accepted!
India – and now Africa – could be where the world-changing tech of the future comes from. Sooner than anyone could have anticipated.
It’s remote work that has made this decentralization possible.
I had to be the first to visit the school that's set to turn Zanzibar into Africa's AI and data science powerhouse.
I arrived on campus to interview three of the smartest people at IIT Madras. Their mission is to make IITM an educational hub – the kind that equips the best and brightest minds with transformative technology so that they can impact change at home.

Gone are the days when tech visionaries had to jet-set across the globe to work in Silicon Valley. Now, innovation starts close to home!
This leaves so much room for local advances in AI, the kind the faculty of IIT Madras are working on every day.

In Africa there’s a culture of technological advancement for society.
Imagine how these key minds could transform the continent, with the help of such valuable AI know-how.
So this week, I’m on the temporary campus after the first official semester of this groundbreaking school.
What I learned blew my mind!
The students of IIT Madras are on track to shake things up in industries far from Silicon Valley.
🌟 Technology has truly transcended location – for now and forever.
It’s easy to see how Africa was once a global superpower that held influence for thousands of years. That time may come around again.
